Default Re: C4 Corvette build for Superstock I-J-K

Hi Ernie,

Wow - this was a good thread to look at. Ive been racing a C4 for about 18 years and did a semi 4 link years ago that bolted in. I used a 12 bolt and at the time had a 434sbc that went a best of 9.7@136. However a few years ago after that sbc blew I put in a 555 n/a and been racing that for last 3 years. Detuned it goes 9.0@153. My car is still all stock inside with moly cage of course and has power everything yet. Even the stereo is still in it.

With the 12 bolt even detuned I usually go through a ring and pinion at the most inopportune time (semis). So this winter I plan to put some big tires and let it really eat. If I turn it up it usually goes about 1.26 60fts but it really taxes the rear. I plan on a 9inch.

The car is used for bracket racing and where I have it detuned it works great but I am wanting to get it more realiable. So basically I am cutting apart a perfectly good car that works like a zerox machine.

Few questions. Do you have some more detailed photos of the area around where the frame connects. I have seen several of these cars done with the crossmember just tied in straight across. I plan to reinforce mine with some 45 degree tubes also tied into the frame adjacent to where the seats are (drivers hip) area.

I am planning on Hoosier 18300 and weld Alpha 1 15x15 wheels. What size did you go with? I figure I am going to go a little overboard as I dont wan this thing to even think about spinning - some of the tracks we race get a little hairy late in the rounds when the dew sets in.
