Here's a couple of early '60's Stocker wagons. One of 'em is a record holder. Looks like they ran it in both H/SA & I/SA.

The other one appears to have either O/SA or Q/SA on it.

Ya'll know of any other full size Pontiac wagons from the '60's that ran Stock ?

And let's give simple credit where credit is due. While we're doing mostly a trip down memory lane, in 2004 who had THE quickest Super Stock pure Pontiac in the country? And who developed the most powerful pure Pontiac Super Stock V-8 combination in history, still to this day, Me.

To all of the current quickest S/S Pontiac's in the land, you're welcome.

So you don't know the current state of NHRA Pontiac Super Stock engines and how they came to be, but you decided it was important to make up a lie. And of course you can't prove your 389 comment. I've never even HEARD of this guy.

Negative jag offs unwilling to evolve......

At least my reality is a happy one.

642 HP iron headed 428. Really probably more like 445 inches. Thats a nice big 1.44 HP per inch Super Stocker, nice work. I just like busting your balls. And you do know who Jarrett is. Heres what I remember: Jarrett did a 1964 389 build on your beloved Pontiac forum, you proceeded to tell him he was over his head on that build. I did the machine work on his build and he actually built the customer a very nice 389, it worked very good. And I thought it was strange you telling Jarrett this after myself seeing your handy work first hand in my shop in Thousand Oaks I really didn't like the seats you installed in the exhausts on these heads. My advice when you install seats in heads, make the effort to use the correct dimension seat, smaller inner diameter. I never bothered to further critique the heads from there. Example of how a seat is done. Carry on.......

Hey ya'll, look what I found !

At the '03 Super Nats, Al Vanis won Stock. Most non-Pontiac guys will have no idea why I think this win is significant.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2003#indextop

(1) Al Vanis won the US Nats, in a Pontiac powered Ventura, back in the mid '70's.

(2) This win was also in a Pontiac powered car. This time, it was a '77 Lemans. The reason that's significant, is because many of the Pontiac guys/families from the past, have long since switched to other brands.

(3) Check out his RT's. He cut two perfect .000 lights, then a .012 light, in the final.

For all these reasons I just think this was a real cool win !

While lookin up SS results, I found that Lee Bannister qualified @ .852 under, at Belle Rose, and made it to round 4.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2006#indextop

And I read that he won at least 4 nat events, with that Bird. So, that car & driver did very well. Would love to know what smaller races he won with that car and with any other Pontiacs he raced.

I noticed that NHRA lets some small things go, on some cars. For example: This car has a Formula hood, with T/A Fender vents. I know of a car that runs as a '73 Formy, which has '71 Bird fender vents. And, I know of another Pontiac which has no front turn signals. I assume that NHRA techs figure there is no performance advantage, so unless a competitor complains, they just let it go. I know that in the old days, some NHRA techs were a LOT more picky about details.

Appears that the name of Lee's car is "Bushwacker".

OK, let's look at the 1st part of 2017.

I've noticed that many of these Pontiacs have changed hands, thru the years. Several have changed hands quite a few times. I've noticed quite a few, in just the few short years I've been keepin up with 'em, online.

I remember reading in these Pontiac threads that some of you guys can just tell us, without even thinkin much about it, the 1st guy to race a car, & the next 2 or 3 owners, in the correct order. Sometimes the cars retain the same paint. Sometimes they are repainted, with a completely different color & look.

Most of the time, I find out, when one driver name is no longer listed with a certain car. But a different name shows up as the driver of the same type car. This is just an observation, which has very little or maybe nothing to do with this thread. So, I'll continue now by lookin at the 2017 Stocker season.

At Pomona, Lindy was #1 @ - 1.026. John Schloe was #7.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2017#indextop

At the AZ Nats, Scott, Brad & Larry were in the top 9.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2017#indextop

At the 1st div 7 race, Scott was #4 & Brad was #6.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2017#indextop

Scott, Brad, & Norman got their class wins at the Spring Vegas race.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2017#indextop

Randi Lyn got RU, at Topeka.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2017#indextop

Wow. That gets us thru May. The Pontiacs were still running good. But the drivers didn't do so great.

But hey, div & nat event competition is fierce. I understand that.
