I have no idea how many of these classes Arnie Beswick ran. But several, for sure.

Found a few more Pontiac Stocker pics. The White bros raced in both Stock & SS. They ran one or more early '70's A-bodies. They'd swap front metal, so they could run as a '71 T-37, a '71 GTO, or a '72 GTO.
Also found a pic of a B/S '65 GTO, sponsored by Stan Long Pontiac. Last edited by oldskool; 01-22-2020 at 10:13 AM. |

Gary Moore had several Pontiacs named "Acre Maker".
The White bros also ran a '71 Formy. The last pic also shows an early '70's Formy, with a real good pic of an old 5-Amber tree, like we used back in the '70's & '80's. Last edited by oldskool; 01-22-2020 at 11:09 AM. |

One thing I've learned from these Pontiac threads is how some of the cars are passed on & raced by the next owner.
This is one of those stories. We went to the IHRA World Nats, in Amarillo, back in '75 or '76. We saw & made a pic of a '68 Bird. It had Lyndel Warren on the side. Just found out, from this article, that Lyndel had bought the Acre Maker II '68 from Gary Moore. Set records & won races with it. Later, he also bought the Acre Maker Formy & was #1 Qualifier at the Winter Nats, in '78. https://www.hotrod.com/articles/0408...tiac-firebird/ Lyndel named the 2nd gen car the "Coke Machine", I assume because he worked for the Coke soft drink company. Back in 1975 or so I used to drive over to Lebanon Valley Dragway in upstate New York . They used to attract a few really top notch Stockers , including Gary Woods , W.A. Lee , and another guy I can't remember his name , but he had a 1971 GTO 455HO named the Brown Bear . He lived , I think , in Chickopee , Mass . That got me into getting in Stock , when I graduated College . Great memories , It would be cool if anyone remembers who ran the Brown Bear !

"...top notch Stockers , including Gary Woods..."
I assume you are referring to Gary Wood, who had the famous Tons-a-Fun wagons ? Can you provide any more info about Gary, or the other Pontiac racers you mentioned ? Use to love the Tons-a-Fun wagon. But, it wasn't 'til I got online a few years back, that I actually learned more about his racing. The only wagon I had known of had the GTO type front end. Learned that there were actually 2 wagons. The other one had a Lemans front end. They ran both the 455HO & the 455 D-port engines. Also learned about his 2nd gen Bird & his '72 GTO. Gary & his then wife Charlene, got some big race & class wins , including the '75 Spring Nats, & a nat event in Canada, IIRC. Their story is in this article, below the Jack Mullins section. http://www.hotrod.com/articles/0212hpp-pontiac-history/ I know these pics have probably already been posted, somewhere in this thread. But, I'm not gonna go back thru it to find 'em. Just learned that Charlene was recently inducted into the NHRA div 1 Hall of Fame !
