8"??? That's a new one on me! Are you positive it's original?? Regardless, you're going 9" but that is beyond weird. |

I had a 302 71 Torino with an 8 inch rear in it years ago. Put 3 rears in it so Im sure

Center section is complete full of goodies like a Speedway Motors case and Daytona pinion support and Moser spool and Yoak along with 5.14 us gear

I was a Ford dealership mechanic in the 70s and Ive never seen a 302 Torino with a 9 inch rear. Maybe they came with them but I never saw one. my girlfriend had one too and I also put 3 - 8 inch rears in it, rear seals were bad about leaking and a noisy rear is how you found out. Thats when she would tell me it was making noise again

Actually, Tex Millers Torino was a 72 or 73 model. 71 was the last year for the unibody shock tower, leaf spring cars, starting in 72, Torinos and Montegos went to full frames with coil spring 4 control arm rear suspension. As for 8" vs 9", 6 cylinder and 302 cars had a 8", only the 351 and larger engines came with a 9".
