thanks all for the replys. I have a deep shank receiver/WD set up. I will look at the frame extensions. actually, I would not have thought about that. could be very important !!!

I'm familiar with the one ton 7.4L combination you have. I know you will have the power to do what you want but you need a towing gear for this added load and aero drag. I'm pretty sure a 4:56 or 5:14 ring and pinion is available. I would go with the latter. Besides the added performance on hills with a 5:14 gear, you would actually see better fuel economy when towing because you won't have to be as deep into the throttle when cruising. My Ford MH has a 4.56 rear gear with a 5 speed OD automatic trans.
At 65-70 my rpm is right around 2400-2500....creeps up over 2600 to go over 70... 16" dual rear wheels/tires..... That takes some getting used to, the driveline noise....at that higher rpm After owning it for 6 years I just turn the radio up and don't even hear it.... My Duramax pickup would be under 2000rpm at the same speed....
