Apples and Oranges, In 1900 the percentage of "eligible" voters of the total population was was way, way less than today due to the "Poll Tax" , hence the 73.7 % Just for laughs, think about this, In the era of the Poll tax, to be eligible to vote you had to either own property, serve in military, pay some type of taxes etc. other wise you paid the poll tax to be able to vote.. lets forward this to 2020, what would the Total voter eligibility number and the turnout Percentage be if the poll tax was still in force and the fee was say $20 for all those who didn't qualify otherwise. oh and no Internet or Social Media just like in 1900.
