I have heard not to use a tool steel lifter on a steel cam, but never saw what happens if you do. Treated and coated lifters would be the answer. What did it do to the cam lobe? Also, do you suppose that those used steel lifters could be coated? Might pay to find out.

I have had a set of tool steel lifters repaired. you should be able to then coat them.

Cleaned parts, finished rings and bearings on all but one piston, ran out of spirolox. Back to it tomorrow.
