Dr. said its ok to go back to work. I've been out of service for seven weeks, man do I have some catching up to do. To my surprise both hands have lost strength and are tender.
But Patsy and I received our first of two vaccination yesterday. |

All nine O2 sensors fit in the pipes and on the car. I did have to remove one tube to install the O2 and then reinstall the tube. Once again it shows how good Calven Elston is at his craft.

Well today is the first day I have felt good enough to get something done. I had good and bad news when I pulled the pipes off, most of the exhaust ports looked real good and dry, then pulled #8 and it was black and oily. So it will be off with its head to see what might be slowing it down. Now I have visions of the cylinder being fixed and the car going faster. Man I love this game!
I did bump my hand a few times and it reminded me how tender it was, but its getting better. |

I'm trying to get a second engine built for a backup. So today and I mean a long today I spent doing inventory. I was surprised how much of the basic building blocks I had on hand. I still lack a few major parts but not as bad as I thought. I've saved up for a few things. Patsy just called and said supper is ready.

I should know more today after I leak check it. What I did see with the large runners and the injectors straight above them was the engine makes a lot of condensation. Water collected in the low spots in the head. Valve adjustments stay put, I had all valves within.001 of target.
Time for hand therapy, got to go. |

The leak test showed all valves leaking in the 13 to15% range. I’m wondering if the seats in the heads moved or every valve in it is bent from the trans letting go on the 1-2 shift at Indy points race. Why are learning curves so expensive?
On the positive side the valve lift is a little short and a new cam with a tick more lobe lift will get us to within .005” of maximum lift. It may help power. Progress on my hand is good now, after only 15 minutes of therapy I can put it flat on a table or make a fist. I can use it for a few things around the shop. |
