***CCRA 2021 Sponsor Spotlight***

This week's sponsor spotlight will be a tad bit different as it isn't any particular business but instead a Father/Son racing team that participates in our CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association races. Let me introduce you to "The McLawhorn's". Mr. Ed & son Avery contacted me at the beginning of the year & wanted to do some sort of sponsorship for the upcoming CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association racing season & left it up to Tabitha & Leigh Anne to come up with a unique award. After a bit of brainstorming, we decided to give a "Hard Luck Award" on behalf of The McLawhorn Team. This award is decided at the end of each race based on which racer had the worst luck whether it be in route to the track or on that particular race day. The person chosen receives $25 for his/her misfortunes. Day #1 of KDS Motorsports, Mr. Roger Jarman was the recipient of this award & on Day #2 was James "Cooter" Williamson.

The McLawhorn family has been involved in class racing since 1965. Mr. Ed's father, Ed Sr, ran Junior Stockers and Super Stock. Mr. Ed passed the passion of drag racing down to his son Avery as well. The past couple of years, these 2 have been sharing driving duties in Ed's Chevy II wagon but this year will be the first year for them to be a 2 car team. Avery debuted his Chevy II at our first race race at Kinston but had some new car blues & was unable to compete. He is thrashing hard to get it ready for race #3 & #4 at Farmington Dragway on May 1st & 2nd.

Be sure when you see one of these guys at the track, that you tell them a simple "thank you" for their sponsorship for the 2021 CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association racing season.

If you aren't entered in the National at Atlanta next weekend, please make plans to attend our races at Farmington. And if you lose out early, you can always come to Farmington for Sunday. Hope everyone saw the points purse announcement last night & it's not too late to join!

Piney Green Electric Co. Inc is owned & operated by Keith & Korey Alexander. Piney Green was established in 1974 & they currently have 22 employees. They specialize in commercial & residential electrical services in Eastern NC.

The Alexander's also are avid racers with us in our CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association. Piney Green was our title sponsor of Race #1 at KDS Motorsports a few weeks ago. They also run NHRA as well as some bracket races. Keith drives his beautiful, black 69 Camaro & runs in SS/IA. Korey races both Stock & SS. He runs his 87 Oldsmobile Cutlass in GT/MA & his 78 Camaro in J/SA. Korey's wife, Kelsey also races in NHRA Super Street in her Chevy S-10 truck.

Mr. Ronny Williams is owner & operator of Ronny's Muffler Shop. He has been in business since 1970. Ronny is currently the only one that works there but his late son, Ronny Williams Jr, used to help his dad at the family business. They specialize in automotive exhaust work so if you're in the Jacksonville/Onslow County area & in need of exhaust work, be sure to keep Ronny in mind.

Ronny is also one of our own. He has two Super Stock cars. He has a 2000 Pontiac Firebird that he normally races at NHRA races. It has a SBC 327 in it & runs GT/NA. His other car is a 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass. It is also powered by a SBC 327 & he runs it in GT/MA. If you're ever having a bad day at the track & need a good laugh, just go on over to Ronny's pit area & I promise you'll leave there in tears from laughing so hard.

Mr. Doug also competes with our association & is a rather tough competitor. You will occasionally see him running some local NHRA races. He has a 1990 Chevy Camaro SS/DM powered by a SBC 301.
