Hoosier C30 Compound

This post is not about the OP, it's about some of the subject matter.

I think I mentioned the Hoosiers are going on the back burner or maybe I didn't. Anyway, I/we have the upcoming Spring Fling Million race(s) coming up. I may or may not enter but are preparing as if. I decided to buy new 29.5x10.5 M/T PBRs over using our new low run Hoosiers if we decide to run the race(s).

The new tires should be on for our points race on Mar. 30th.

Got the new M/T PBRs in today, they felt extra heavy. While I've weighed them before, these came in at 34 lbs. each. M/T list them at 31 lbs.

Oh well, they work great on our/my car & they're fast enough for a bracket car.

Our points race was cancelled for rain today. We did have a TnT yesterday & there was a good many Spring Fling racers testing. I did get to make my last test pass against the best & took some learning away from it!

Anyway, we had the new M/T PBRs on & the car was struggling to pick the tires up & 60's were slow. I did loosen up the front shocks & it responded slightly. I think it was a combination of TnT prep & the worst air we've been in.

I'm sure on Tues. our only test run(s) for the Spring Fling we will have better track prep.

I tried M/T PBR 28x10.5s for the first time last week and it was literally the best my car has ever worked. Fastest (relative to weather conditions) and straightest the car has ever gone. Mounted on a 12 inch wide single beadlock wheel. Got a little aggressive with the NOS tune-up and almost turned it over backwards. I dialed it back and made a couple of really great test passes. Yes, never used a set of radials before. Had some 28x10.5 floppy tires last year mounted on some ancient Weld Draglites with wheels screws that worked good too, but I've heard the radials are faster and work better on slower stuff like mine. At this point I'd have to agree. The 30x9 hoosier radials on my stocker gave me the confidence to try a radial on my SST car and I'd have to say it was a good call.

The Keizer wheels are awesome. Can't beat them for the price. Look great, interchangeable centers, and SFI certified. These are a 15x12 single beadlock with 2.5 or 3 inch backspacing, can't remember exactly which.

Finally found a product bulletin on this tire. I still only have 9 passes on these tires. I'm pretty sure I can win on them.

I hope to get more testing/racing on them this fall.
