Try what you have on hand first imo.
If you want a DOT bias tire(slick) , I would look at the Hoosier Quick Time Pros. I've used them for index classes as well as others with success requiring DOT tires.

If I go to the Hoosier 30x10.5, I definitely have to go to a 4.5 backspace. With my weight I don't think I really need a 30x10.5 tire, it would definitely be a little more forgiving.
