The Dodge Hellcats are listed in the NHRA guide. The factory transmission had a transmission brake as Stock. Would it pass tech?

Or is it only legal to run an internal electronic solenoid shifted valve body in a car that came with an internal electronic solenoid shifted valve body?
Dean, Not really a gray area.
According to the braintrust in Glendora, anything that has a computer i.e. EFI can use internal solenoids.
That would be 3rd gen Camaros with EFI. But what about feedback Q-jets? They have and electric enrichment system and a TPS..Gotta be a computer hiding somewhere there.
But hey..What about a 78 Caddy Seville? Yup ..EFI .78 Coupe Deville 425? Nope.
Almost forgot the 57 300 D Hemi EFI? Yup
You see where this is going? No research or forethought .
The rule should 95 and newer 4l60E , which had solenoids and is programmable with HP Tuners, etc . The Camaros, Vettes etc. came that way.
Yes , you can retrofit a 200 trans, but this is about as close to what should be legal.

No. If you are driving one of my cars you are pushing a shift leaver.

I don't run a two step to stage/launch either.

I probably will not put one in my car. Kinda like the ability to adjust ET a little by varying 2-3 shift.

How did this get on the rulemakers radar, and why is it already in the rule book one year ahead of time.

Wouldn't these people be happier in super pro on Saturday nights?

IMHO, I don't think that any shifter like that belongs in Stock.
