On Saturday, we will have our two qualifying runs to establish a ladder for the race. Liberty's Gears is the Top Qualifier sponsor for this season. Title sponsor for race #2 is Johnson's Heating & Air Conditioning (Steve Johnson) & the associate sponsor is GBM Land & Construction (Brodie McKee). Entry fee: $200.00 Points membership: $200.00 We've had a couple of months off since our last race & I know everyone has been working on their rides to get them in tip top shape. It's going to be a hot one but the action on the track is going to be hotter! Everyone please stay hydrated & if you need something to drink, I'll be glad to help out. This weekend's race that was originally scheduled for Union County Dragway on Saturday, June 28th has been moved to Farmington Dragway due to timing system issues at Union County Dragway.
Friday, gates open at 5 p.m. for testing & the track will go hot at 6 p.m. Saturday, gates open at 8 a.m. with time runs beginning at 10 a.m. I will find out the run order Friday when we get to the track & let everyone know. We need to be sure to let Mrs. Sandy & Mark Joyce at Farmington Dragway know that we truly appreciate them for welcoming us on such a short notice so we don't have to cancel our 2nd race of the year. NOTICE: NO PARKING ALLOWED IN THE BULLPEN AREA (behind the staging lanes) as that area is reserved for the Mad Dawg 4.50 Association. If I see any of our racers parked there, I will ask you to move. |

06/28/25-08/23/25 Farmington Dragway race results
We were originally scheduled to race at Union County Dragway but due to issues at their track, we moved our race to Farmington Dragway. We had 6 cars make the change to FM. Q1 saw 5 cars make all decent runs with a 138* track temperature. Robbie Draughon AM & Ronnie Yopp DM were the first 2 pairs down the track. RD went a 5.2426 at 133.10 mph (-0.6574) & RY went 5.8776 at 118.86 mph (-0.4724). Brad Smith BM & Steve Johnson CM were the 2nd pair. BS went a 5.5738 at 123.83 mph (-0.4362) & SJ went 5.5214 at 125.10 mph (-0.6786). Darrion Houston EM was our final car to see the track for Q1. DH went 6.0751 at 113.84 mph (-0.4249). Strawberry Dixon was on property but unable to get his car ready in time for Q1. Q2 had a 150* track temperature. None of the 5 drivers above improved on their Q1 runs. Dixon was able to make a run but not completely under power but enough to get on the ladder. After this run, the qualifying was over & a ladder was established. Steve Johnson came out on top once again & picked up his 3rd Liberty's Gears Top Qualifier award for his Q1 performance. The pairings is Johnson CM versus Smith BM with the winner having a laddered bye run to the finals, Draughon AM versus Houston EM, & Yopp DM versus Dixon BM. Strawberry & Ronnie were our first pair out for E1. This one was over at the hit when Yopp lit up the dreaded red light handing the R1 win over to Dixon that struggled getting down the track once again. Robbie & Darrion were our 2nd pair & Draughon was pushed off the track due to mechanical issues after his burnout handing the R1 win over to Houston. Houston made a good run, improving over his qualifying running a 6.084 at 113.55 mph (-0.4416). Brad & Steve were the 3rd pair out & this one was like the first pair being over at the hit when Johnson lit the red bulb by -.0156 handing the R1 win over to Smith. This meant that Brad picked up the Xclusive Hauling/Grading Bounty Hunter money for winning the round over previous race winner Johnson. This was a BIG deal as it meant that CCMP presented by Hickory Enclosed Trailer Sales/ Racing Performance Motorcoaches was going to have a new & 1st time Winner!! Unfortunately rain came before we could complete anymore of the race & the decision was made to complete this race in qualifying at our next Farmington Dragway race scheduled for 08/23/25. Here we pick up on Saturday at a cloudy, overcast Farmington Dragway. Strawberry Dixon unfortunately had issues on Friday night while trying to test which continued on throughout the day on Saturday. This is a true testimony of the racers that we have in the CCMP series as everyone was over in the Dixon pit area trying to get the car fixed. We even had a guest appearance from Mr. Tim Freeman, crew chief from Elite Motorsports stop him to work his magic. Although electrical gremlins won the battle, it wasn't for lack of effort to get Strawberry's car raceable. Darrion EM took his competition bye run running a 6.0529 at 114.16 mph (-0.4471) & Brad BM took his laddered bye run running a 5.5193 at 126.44 mph (-0.4907). That run gave Smith lane choice over Houston for the finals. They both pull to the staging lanes realizing that one of their dreams are about to come true, winning their 1st CCMP race ever! Brad has a huge advantage at the tree carrying himself to victory & claiming a win in CCMP. Smith was .0680, ran a 5.5808 at 125.38 mph (-0.4292) while Houston was .1868 at the hit, running a 6.0851 at 108.93 mph (-0.4149). Brad received his race winning, the CCMP Christmas tree trophy built by Robbie Draughon Powertrain Development employee, Caleb Beaman with engine parts provided by Erson Cams/PBM Performance, a race trailer check courtesy of MJ's Custom Printing & Graphics, a Winner's hat sponsored by PSPA (inside joke: he tried to buy one at our 1st race of the year at GALOT Motorsports Park & we told him he had to win a race to get one), $250.00 gift certificate to Hippie Headers, a certificate for a set of E3 Spark Plugs, a 5 gallon pail of Fuel Factory F25 racing fuel, $100.00 Altronics Inc gift certificate, $50.00 Meziere Enterprises gift certificate, $100.00 COMP Cams gift certificate, & a $100.00 Edelbrock Performance gift certificate. Houston received his racing winnings, a smaller race trailer check courtesy of MJ's Custom Printing & Graphics, $150.00 gift certificate to Hippie Headers, a 5 gallon pail of PRO 116+ fuel from Renegade Racing Fuel-Ford?s Fuel South East Master Distributor/ Renegade Race Fuels & Lubricants, a 50% off one item from Zamp Racing, $50.00 Edelbrock Performance gift certificate, & a $50.00 COMP Cams gift certificate.
