Daryl: There was a black dart w/o the lettering campaignrd by a black team from the Mpls area that would seem to fit this car. If these are from 1970, the lettering may have been added since 1968, or a new owner. I remember the car well, there was a second car at Donnybrook in 1968.

That car was owned and driven by John Rivers. He was part of a "team" called the Soulful Strutters. More pictures are in earlier pages of this thread.

There was also another Hemi Cuda in the Altoona area, Updyke & Thomas from Tyrone. It was bought new at the CP dealership in Tyrone....the name of the dealership escapes me now. The car was later owned, and, I believe is still by Clayton Wright, and he has been very successful. It was for sale at http://freerevs.com/car/286315#main Sam Pannutty owned it for a while.

Both cars were regulars at old Peterson Memorial Dragway near Altoona, and also on the Division 1 Super Stock circuit.

I'll see if I can get ahold of some guys and find out where they went....you guys are really taxing my memory.
Steve, thanks for the info...I did here that there was a Sox & Martin connection with this B029, but I just figured they had their motors or some other work done by them, I didn't realize that they bought up some of the old Sox & Martin equipment...but keep digging to see what else you can come up with.

Correct, this was the car Ron won Indy with in 1970. I have the car he got close with in '69. I understand that this car may be being restored to it's 1970 appearance?

The "Car of the Rising Sun" is a real LO23 car, and accounted for. In that photo, it is being driven by a good friend of mine who owned the car briefly in the early 1970's. I cannot recall the names of the brothers who originally owned the car, but it was built more for ISCA-type shows. They were from Central PA (York?). The car was never really a strong runner when my friend owned it. This car eventually ended up being the plain yellow car Lou Mancini built to drive on the street in the late 1970's/early 1980's. It sold a Barrett-Jackson a few years back for $300k, and I believe still resides in Vegas.

Also...I believe the Valley Motors car was a Sox & Martin "customer" car.
