This is true, just ask Jeff about the ratings on the Dodge truck he tried to run in Stock! It was hit so bad before they even finished it that the Cajun Boys scrapped the whole project! What a shame. Jim

This is so true even the 08 Mustangs are scarce this year. The only way this would help the sportman racers if the Auto companies would give a few of these cars the racers who do the best job of representing them! Sorta like the Oldsmobile days.

Car counts are down, payouts are down, we're losing races and tracks in Division 2, and there hasn't been any good news in quite some time.

The big picture? You mean the continual drop in contingency payouts? Or the new "environmental fees"? Or the increase in entry, certification, license, and membership fees? Or the lack of purse increases? Or the poor track prep?

No one is buying it. The new cars are not bringing thousands, hundreds, or even dozens of new spectators. Very few are being built or bought by new participants. They aren't bringing more coverage from any form of media, either.

So we have these new cars. So, did NHRA increase the quotas for Stock or Super Stock substantially? No, but they added two new classes. Is that the "big picture"?

Charley, people like you keep telling us all to be grateful for what the new cars are bringing us, and to look at the "big picture". But so far, none of you have been able to present the slightest evidence of this improvement of the "big picture". By all means, show us all the facts about all of this wonderful improvement we're getting, I'm sure we're all ready for some good news.

By all the bad mouthing of NHRA on this site I must be led to believe IHRA has the CJs factored fairly. Is that correct?

IHRA is not a prestigious enough Venue for some folk’s consideration. It’s a shame you can’t run one in IHRA Pure Stock though, way too cool as they are factory produced. Let’s see the last time a Pure Stocker qualified No. 1 it had HP on it before it left the scales. Wouldn’t take long there.

Ralph,

Ford has supported many Sportsman teams with parts and pieces, deals on parts and cars, and with contingency, which it pays on any Ford, regardless of year or model. Plus, I believe it offers X-plan on new Ford vehicles to NHRA racers. So every Ford racer has the opportunity to benefit from Ford's involvement.

Evan I know you suport Ford fully and uderstand you need to cause f your magzine deal. But X-plan is not big deal, it is .04% over dealer cost. Now take a $20,000 vehicle that is $800.00 over dealer cost I can walk into any Dealer ( Ford, Chrysler, GM in my area and buy for $250.00 over dealer cost. So it still cost me $550 to use X plan and a lot of rebates do not apply to Employee & X- Plan purchases. If it were a new Super Dutyr with a deler cost of $40,000 that would be $1,600 over DC so X plan would cost me $1,350.00 to use X plan.. Now if you were talking employee pricing that is .04% below dealer cost. That would be a real saving. Never forget the Auto Companies are doing it for what is best for them for as little $$ as they can get away with. As far a Contingency you have to win to collect and if you don't they keep the money I am talking real support.

Put them in a CJ class only, and that's that! Just like the Hemi's.

All the "new" 08 CJ and 09 DP are in AA FI index of 10.85 7.5 pd break all by themselves....has anyone run one in the IHRA?

They seem to fit better in SS in the IHRA.

Just my observation
