Cool Phiasco in Foenix

Has anybody heard what the possible rescheduled date for the LODRS 7-1 race at Firebird might be held, and would the field be set and closed to new entrants?we were kicking this around, nobody seems to know.

Guess it would depend on how many are there for the scheduled race that want to enter the make up race being held the day before.

Hope you like wine.

I just asked that question at our first team race at Firebird. The Divisional race is still open to new entries. The National is NOT. That is what I was told by Chuck Sundstom at our drivers meeting. Hope my info helps. Should be scheduled later in the year late Sept or mid Oct is what was being tossed around, nothing set in stone yet.

Thanks

As late in October as possible would be geat for avoiding the heat. The weekend before the Vegas national meet would work, great time to gain points and a grade point at the end of the season like that.

Don't forget Division 7 has two meets to make up a national and a divisional.

Makes a lot of sense to have a double divisional somewhere in terms of expense, time off work and travel time for the racers. Not much additional cost to the host track either.

We should hear something this week.

PS -
I hear the Indian Tribe wants to put a Casino where the Phoenix track is. Lot of questions - what with the economy, resurfacing and law suits.

Sounds like we need to try to interest more Native Americans in class racing....

I really don't get what's going on with the Phoenix national and divisional races. When they were cancelled it was announced that completion dates would be posted the NEXT WEEK. Now I can see one week turning into two or even three weeks as you work through a few details/issues, but it's now been two months and there's been no announcement as to when either race will be completed. What in the world is going on? NHRA's probably hoping that we'll all just forget that we paid good money to enter these races and even more money to be present in Phoenix two weekends in a row with zero rounds of racing completed.

*edit*
despite my not being happy that it took two months for the dates to be announced, I must say that I'm pleased with the outcome (at least for Stock eliminator). Both events scheduled at the same track on back to back weekends where at least a significant number of the Phoenix entries would have been attending anyways. Well done.
