Honda Rod Journals
I run a 2.5 inch rod journal in a car over 3900 pounds.
If somebody is running a Honda rod size crank journal,is there a given weight where the forces of accelerating a heavy vehicle will cause crankshaft failure,or is everything safe as long as the reciprocating assembly is as light as possible? |

X3. A short stroke engine with significant main/rod journal overlap can use small diameter rod journals, regardless of vehicle weight. I have not personally built a stroker engine with small (Honda/Quad 4) rod journal sizes, but many engine builders who specialize in strokers seem to shy away from the small rod pin. |

The common mod for an Olds is to go from the 2.5" stock crank pin to 2.2" BBC size. The smaller big end of the rod also helps with cam lobe clearance with strokes longer than 4.25" on the Olds.
