Default shifting issue

I shift the car with a MSD Activator with a chip in it. If I have a 6500 chip or higher it will not shift. But if I put a 6400 in it, it will shift. what could be bad?? The activator or the cylinoid??? A its electric. Thanks.

What kind of Trans? Is the rev limiter close to the shift RPM? None I have worked with shift at the selected RPM. There is always a lag. Takes a little time to get the shift done.
I have to set my 1>2 shift RPM 400 lower than I want the shift to occur. Not a PG, is it?

Yes ED, Its a P/G, and the high side chip is 6900 I think? You maybe think I need to go up on the high side chip maybe to get it to shift. I want to shift it at 6500 like we had it and I think we had a 7200 high side chip at the time? Thanks Ed!

I agree with Ed. I think that is the issue... I too have to put a shift chip in that is around 200-300 RPM less than my desired actual shift point. You may be getting into the high side chip before the shift chip is saturated.

I have experimented with a function generator and varied the frequency to compare chips. I found them to be fairly consistent, but I did notice the lag Ed described. And when the engine is flying upwards at a high rate of RPM rise, that lag results in several hundred RPM difference in the completion of the actual shift.

I have a 7,700 RPM shift chip in it now, and looking at the playback, it hits right at 7,950 to 8,000 RPM on the shift
