Fake battery, dq or not
What is the final outcome of getting caught with a fake battery during tech or anytime during a race? At some races you go home, others you get a slap on the wrist. I understand there was one caught at Epping this week. Did the racer get to change the battery or was it a disqualification?

Re: Fake battery, dq or not
Here's the NHRA's response, as of 5/26/2015 -
"The NHRA disqualified a competitor from the 2015 Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway for violating NHRA Rules, particularly Section 10A, page 10 of the 2015 NHRA Rulebook under Electrical. Tech inspectors discovered a false battery was installed. In addition to the disqualification the competitor will receive zero points for the event and the event will count towards his quota. The disqualification is not appealable." The way I interpret the above statement is that if you show up to an NHRA-sanctioned event with a false/dummy/fake battery installed in your race-car, and are caught, you pack-up and go home! You obviously can avoid any drama by not having a false/dummy/fake battery installed in your race-car, knowing that the Tech Inspectors have been checking for this, but some folks must think that they'll never get caught! I not sure what happened at Epping.

Re: Fake battery, dq or not
Mr crew chief , you have answered your own question. At some races ( Atlanta Nat. Event ) a racer was DQ'ed , but at another race that same weekend a racer was allowed to install another battery. It is definately not a Stocker Secret any more. M.J.

Re: Fake battery, dq or not
I don't know what the guide line's are but I saw the NHRA Tech Inspector look very closely at my son's stocker battery's and made reference to the earlier DQ here at Epping

And the winner is......RJ Sledge.....kinda like dropping ice bags on the track at Las Vegas ,prompting a cleanup by track workers, but since you are involved in promoting a race at Las Vegas the following week all is good. All we ask for is some Consistency guys. .??M.J.

Re: Fake battery, dq or not
Here's a scenario for you. Class runoff, one guy forgets to turn fan on in car. Near finish line he sprays the windshield of the other car. At end of track NHRA personnel wave offending car off track and put something under car ( not sure what it was). Should he be tossed for putting foreign substance on track surface?
As far as bogus battery, DQ should be mandatory, no if's and's or but's.
