Re: What??????????

Did MIR even have anyone down track? I can't recall seeing anyone even when they ran the pro mods? maybe I just didn't see them.

Yes, as we were waved off initially 1st round on Sunday for a top end spotter to check for oil, as one of the cars in the pair before us was smoking a little.

DJ,
I thought one was not allowed to "block" their helmet or place tape on the windshield in IHRA anymore...am I wrong?

Re: What??????????

This situation epitomizes the reason I believe blocking the tree should not be allowed... its a safety issue. If you can't see the starter trying to stop a race(regardless if it happen in this situation or not) or the reds flashing how are you supposed to know if there is an issue down track??? I know some aren't on the helmet and you can still see a lot around you, but not all of them are... I'm not arguing this because I believe they have any advantage...if you have to block the tree to be competitive so be it.. but the fact that someone could be in a dangerous situation because of the use of a "blocker" to me should make it illegal due to safety...

The starter said the tree was not activating after several tries and knew the tree was long and in their effort to stop the racers and back them out ,the tree came down and both drivers took the tree and left. (Jr said he did not see anyone trying to stop him ,but he was racing and focusing on the tree and helmet had blinders on it). We won and had a .040 light ,the opponent had a -.015 red. I was way back behind the line and did not see them trying to stop the guys. But some closer told me that they did.(not arguing that point)
At that time the starter came over and explained the situation and said there would be a re-run. Only thing about that was when our guy went red we ran out the back door since weather was changing and went a 12.18 off a 12.24 dial. Our guy went a 10.16 off a 10.17 dial.
So the re-run made us keep our same dial (us being way fast) . when we came back to the lanes our guy had changed his dial to a 10.14. I told him he could not change his dial and he was a little upset. He asked the official at the head of the lanes and he told him no dial change. The no change hurt us more than him ,but thank goodness Jr knows how to hold a "few". The re-run was a "W" to us. We were .039 on the tree and our guy was .070 on the tree.We went dead on with a 4 .. Now i want 10 more points for an extra round... lol

Is the no dial in change on re runs an IHRA thing? Any re runs I`ve ever been in I`ve been able to change my dial in,but I`ve only run NHRA tracks.

Has always been like that ever since i can remember. It is like having an extra time run if you were allowed to change the dial.Just like our car went 12.18 on a 12.24 dial and our oponent went 10.15 on 10.17 dial. That made for an interesting re-run.
