I would guess that anyone not running the 255 combo will argue that there will be not performance loss however as we all know unless you run a combo and do back to back exact conditions your only expressing your opinion. Performance loss or not the cost will be expensive and all the other pieces associated with the cowl hood; air cleaner, cowl seals,paint, cowl hood, etc are just so much junk now.

Probably the same reason the 67 L-88 Corvette was removed from the guide. Too much crying from too many whiners.

Yet we have cars in Stock Eliminator that were NEVER produced, never mind having a VIN number and being legal to drive on the street.

NHRA is no longer the organization it once was.

'70 chevy Monte Carlo convertible. It would be fun to build one and show up at a race with it. How did they arrive at shipping weights for a car built of pure nonexistanium?

That's a dumb rule. The factory cowl hood is heavy, anybody running it is subjecting themselves to a weight penalty anyhow.

Someone needs to produce a build sheet of a special order 255 HP 69 with a cowl hood and stuff that in their face.

It appears that it wasn't available as stated

BUT, no one knows 100% for sure that a 255 HP model NEVER came off the line with a cowl hood.

"Since the 1969 production year was abnormally long due to the late introduction of the 1970 model and the immense popularity of the 1969 models, by late April of 1969 to the end of the production in September, the lines got really blurred about restrictions of option combinations. The ZL2 hood option became available on any four-barrel equipped Camaro by that time, so 350-255 cars did come with the hood.

As a personal note, I coached a friend of mine in optioning a 1969 Camaro he ordered. He was attending college at the time and was receiving some money from his dad who required "no hot rod". He ordered a base Camaro with an F41 suspension, 350-255, four speed, positraction, spoilers, ZL2 hood, disc brakes, HD rear axle, custom interior and several other comfort features. Nice car. Not too fast, but one that many would covet today. "

What I've noticed in almost all racing classes is that once someone starts dominating a class, people start complaining and get the rules changed.

40Coupe: I just researched the issue on the Camaro site and the LM1 350/255 was only available in the Camaro through December 68. The L65 350/250 2bbl motor replaced it effective January 69. The 327 2bbl motor was also replaced by the 307 2bbl motor at the same time in the Camaro. As I stated in the above post, the two options were not available at the same time from Chevrolet. I hope this sheds some light on the availability of the LM1 and ZL2 factory options.

Well I guess NHRA has nothing better to do! I can say for my self that there is no performance gain from running the hood but wow does it look much better than the flat hood!
