Also, there was a 3x2 version of the 350 that was proposed and engineered, but was supplanted by the 396 option because it was cheaper to build and Ford put the 390 in the Mustang and Pontiac put the 400 in the Firebird.

Billy, I like your comment. There are more than enough now. Wish there was a way to stop them if they are not currently being run with a one year window. If none show up they are removed from being in the books or being run. That could be a great first step in NHRA history. Stop more bogus cars and problems factoring.( I can hear you shouting all the way up here in Ohio) Probable 2nd step would be removing any which drop out of entries and then start from the top with only allowing 5 or so motors of new cars per brand.
Just a thought.....

Dick, I'd like to see ALL of the new cars in the guide, not just the "halo" cars. The "bogus cars and problems factoring" are largely due to the High Performance Specials not the Low Po Civilian models. I see nothing to be gained by deleting old, not currently being run combos from the guide. I just might want to do a 54 Olds or a 55 Pontiac before I cash in my chips!

Billy - you sure about that? This guy said it was called a "Hugger - 350"?
Maybe it was a dealer installed kind of thing like the cross-ram and rear discs?

That engine combo could be run in a 68 Camaro. It would have to run in GT. It would fit GT/EA. Wouldn't be a real good combo due to the HP and index differences.

Ya know, there IS one early Camaro that could almost be a "maybe they built some" combo and that is a 67 with a 327/350 combo. The early press releases and service literature listed the 327/350 as being available and there are engine codes reserved for such a car. Stick only but it would be cool!

That would be the L-79 engine.325hp in a Chevelle and 350hp Corvette
same engine part #'s .Polar Chev had both on the show floor fall of 1966.

The 68 350 /255 is the page before the 98 LT1 'Birds and Camaros!

Larry, old pal old buddy, I have never heard of the 255 in the 68 cars. However the early release and dealer show 98 birds and camaros came with the lt1. And the 98 one owner Firebird that I drove in of the street and built Woodros silver car out of had an original owners manual listing an LT1. But really there is no performance difference in a 97 versus 98.
