Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
Hi Jason
I hear what you are saying about the fun factor. I am working to get this stuff fixed. I'm thinking with the proper tweeks BIR WILL BE a fun place to race again. As I said before the meeting was very productive and positive. BIR is very open to making things run smoother for all of us. I hope you and your dad can find it worth while to go to BIR for the combos this summer! Thanks for your support Glen DeMenge [QUOTE=J DeForrest;237787]Glen, I appreciate the efforts of you and others to make BIR better for the class cars. Hopefully I will make it up there a couple times this year. Quote:

Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
I think when the price of fuel gets to $4.00 a gal we will be looking for cheaper methods of having fun!! The idea of Kerby's of putting extra money in a box is a very good idea. Going to TVD is fun also, but with these fuel prices, its going to be expensive fun. I have probably driven more miles in my racing career than 90% of you guys, and now it will be nice to drive to BIR or Grove Creek to race. I remember back when Minnesota Dragways and Northstar Dragstrip were open and all we did was bitch about everything that some of you people are bitching about now. Then one day we woke up in the morning and they were gone. If you dont like the expense of parking on the tar, please park in the rubarb. I paid to park on the tar last year and I loved it, if some of you guys didn't spend so much on beer and wiskey you'd have enough money to buy a spot you could plug into!!! Jed and Kristi are doing a very good job with this track, so I feel that Glen will do his best to help us out, if you want a race on Sat and Sun, we have got to show up, not 10-20 cars, we got to have a full field and then more do show we mean business. Then things may happen. If you need help Glen, let me know,I helped with USA for 12 years or so, I would be happy to help with this. Thanks Joe

Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
Thanks JOE
This IS going to be the year for S/SS combos and special S/SS races. Let's all work TOGETHER to get a full 33 car field at BIR and keep what we have going before IT IS gone! We have an Excellent group of people to race with in S/SS. That to me is worth fighting to keep to TOGETHER. If you can find me a better bunch of people... I'd like to see them. Let's all go racing and have fun again! It can be done! Thanks Again for your support and help! Glen DeMemenge Quote:

Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
That's 70+ already, just concentrating on MN (our core group of local racer's).
If this get's STRONG, then we can hopefully pull some of the Dakota/Wisconsin racer's---Ricky Ryan, Steve Koppien, Mike Koppien, Jim Thune, Eddie Wohl, Dave Engles, Dale Radtke, Dirk Olson, Doc Neumeyer... |
Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
I did not see the Shoe Man on your list either.
|
Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
Alan Messer is there a lot, John Kristianson-(spelling) Rod Neugebauer,Lyn Engels,
|
Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
I realize there are more...just trying to focus on MN for now. We haven't been able to get 33 cars for years, so this is a start. BIR needs to do a mailer of some sort.
I just briefly looked at the 2010 Lucas Oil National qualifying list to get most of the original names I came up with... |
Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
I guess I'll chime in with my .02 cents. We haven't attended any races in recent years for various reasons. Part of that has to do with moneyand family, part with work. As I work every other Saturday until noon. Thunder Valley and Oahe both start in the afternoon on Saturdays so I can work and still make it in time to run. Finally part of it is because it's only a one day race. I know you can bracket race on Sunday. But, I can bracket race at Oahe and usually be home at a reasonable hour with half the expense.
I can see Travis' point on the purse issue for S/SS as opposed to the bracket cars. Why would he want to pound on a high dollar SS'er for minimal return. Then run in a bracket class with it Sunday when he has a tank of a bracket car that requires little maintainance sitting at home. So I can understand his mindset. We're in the same boat. We're turning dad's old 4 door into a bracket car so we can run more closer to home with wearing out the SS'ers or be able to run a bracket class along with the combo race. Glen, I wish you luck if anyone can get it turned around it's you. I'd love to see it turn into a two day race and then I know we would try to make a couple when possible. Rick |
Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
What about having an incentive program. Like if you win a race or RU you get 50/25 per race attended that season inaddition to the normal winnings obivously it would be payed out at the end of the year. also I thought of Dan Jeska. I would also like a 2 day stock/ss weekend
|
Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
well now we are getting somewhere, what about having a couple 2 day races, get 40-50-60
cars plus kerby"s idea and you have some pretty good pay possible. Check scheduling so we are not overlapping anything else and we should have a good turn out, i havent looked at the schedule but a week before of after other races that people are traveling to would make sense as they will be here or close anyway, like around the nationals or divisional or traveling to the us nationals.. Just a idea |
Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
Incentive Program, Hmmm!!! I can clearly recall tracks paying tow money to long distance racers (150 miles or more) but that was at the dawn of the internal combustion engine. I used a tow bar at that time and still have the hooks on the front of one of my cars today. I still have that tow bar too. Doug

Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
Boy "O" Boy, What a immpressive list of stock / superstock Racers.
I think Kerby will have to make a bigger Box ?? Sorokie Start figuring out the best pay outs!! If we talk nice Glen can print out a card showing different pay out for the car counts and stickers for the Box. Hay Mattson after June does this mean Claton Throwing you out to be the crew boy!! See Ya in the spring Kerby  sunny FLA |
Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
If you guys want a 2 day race you better drag your lazy -sses out there for a race or two to show this isn't a bunch of jaw-jackin. Why the heck should Jed and Kristi do anything different until we prove to them we are serious. Then, if we can do that, we can see about having two day races! As it stands right now, we had better thank our lucky stars we still have a place to race S/SS. If anyone has a problem with this please contact me and I'll give you a short lesson in Economics 101. Thank you, Joe Demers
THE BOX RULES!!!! |
Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
Kerby after june im getting demoted to pit Biatch or so ive been told..
|
Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
At TVD many have givin money to sweeten the pot, just because we what to keep a good thing going. If half the racers you have up there throw in 50 bucks for a points fund you have a couple of grand to give out at the end of the year. It is up to the class racers to keep a good thing going up there, remember a winner will say it may be difficult but I can do it, a loser will say its not my job. Tom

Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
Hi all, in hopes of helping things runs more efficient for both BIR and those of you who will run our S/SS combo on Saturdays, hopefully join the Saturday Jackpot, race, and stay with us to run in our NEW and IMPROVED Bracket program here is some of what you all have been waiting to see in writing.
New Stock/Super Stock tech procedure 2011 Stock and Super Stock tech will be done from 9 to 10am Saturday morning at the scales. - If you arrive after this tech period you will need to go through the standard tech process in the lanes and may miss qualifying pass/passes. – - If you have been through the standard tech lanes for Fridays Test and Tune you are already teched for the entire event and can go to a tech official for your run sticker for your entry. The line will move from east to west with cars passing over the scale as the final part of the tech process. Tech will be done with the assistance of the racers and finished by a BIR tech official. - This process has been created to allow the completion of the Saturday Stock Super Stock program efficiently and still allow the bracket program the full use of the racing surface for as much of the day as possible. - We hope this change and the other improvements to our 2011 Drag Racing Program allow the S/SS class to grow and continue be a viable venue for all involved. Additional changes to the program will be posted shortly on the BIR website. http://brainerdraceway.com If you have additional questions, ideas, or thoughts please contact Glen or I can be reached by email @ 81prixmo@gmail.com Phil Abramson BIR Tech Dept. |
Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
Well here it is!!!
S/SS now has THERE OWN tech line!!!!!! A ONE DAY RACE WITH 2 Q runs. A $1200 pay out (with 33 cars) There will be 2 people working to get you your tech. card & tickets . A run order will be in black and white with changes ONLY made as oil downs or weather cause them. (We will be notified by the P.A.) The staging lanes will be run WAY FASTER THAN EVER. (on the 3rd call the 1st pair Will be in the water) NO WAITING FOR 1 OR 2 PEOPLE ANY MORE!!! NO KIDDING!!!! So PLEASE be ready!!!!!!!!! We are going to pair ourselves for eliminations. Q-sheets will be posted! ladder will be posted! I don't think that, this is that bad of a deal (for a track that had every reason in the world to drop our class) to give us! On another note; the super classes have been dropped for the 2011 season at BIR. The only reason S/SS was not dropped IS because of all the input and concern expressed by everyone that signed up for the BIR racer committee on behalf of the S/SS racers. The dropping of the super classes will however, free up some time and make things run smoother for everyone. Lets all keep a positive attitude and look at the positive side of this deal. Please try to support this race program the best you can. We need to average 30 cars at every event for the year OR this deal will be gone next year. That's all there is to it...so let's get some cars at BIR and have some fun again! Thanks for your support!! Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
Glen, you have taken ownership of a sometimes seeming thankless adventure. I wish you all the success. With the efforts of yours and other like minds I remain confident that stock/super stock racing will be around for a long time. Well, hopefully long enough that when I finally get my *%$# together I'll have a place race and meet some of the people from here. Doug

Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
BIR is looking at the details for year end points and prizes.
I will post more as soon as I know what the deal is. !!!!THINK SPRING!!!! I hope that damn woodchuck was right! I've had all the winter I can take! |
Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
Without ticking off my 'Super' Class friends, this was a smart move. No other track around runs S/ST, S/G & S/C at a Bracket event. This for sure will help with the overall program. No going from Full tree, to Pro tree, to .500 Pro tree. No waiting for S/C cars to burn accross the starting line, back up, play games staging and run. I sat in the tower at the September bracket race and timed things. I was amazed!
As well, I have heard rumblings that there will be NO crosstalk in Bracket 1. All these "tree" changes are what help cause 'computer' issues. The improved Tech for S/SS sounds fantastic! Even with a specified time! Only suggestion I might add, for Rd pairings...like we do at a lot of Divisional events, I'd randomly pick the first 2 pairs....this helps speed things up believe it or not. Any word on the prorated payout Glen? |
Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
It sounds like you guys have a lot of BS problems at BIR ???? Dave Leys stock and S/S shows at Atco and the ones in Fl. seem to never have all your issues. WTF ! Just asking????
|
Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
Travis, we will be using cross talk in superpro as we are following the et finals model for the bracket program. We also discussed the random picking of the 1st pair to run with Glen.

Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
Hey X-TECH, we never do anything easy here in good old Minnesota, and it seems ever since Dave Young quit racing, everything has went to hell in a handbasket!!! I think we have a pretty good handle with on it now, and we can get the racers to support it, or we'll be driving to ATCO.

Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
Glen & Phil,
The end to the dreaded tech line is a perfect start. Thanks for your help and cooperation / communication. I'll have to burn the midnight oil to have my car ready for the first race, but I will do what I can to ensure your efforts are appreciated. Keep up the good work |
Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
Thanks again for all the support!
It's hard to think of racing when it's -20 below zero outside! I am now totally sick of winter!!!! The news will get better as we go along. Spring will be here befor you know it. ( so everyone, get to work ! lets have a good turnout in may!) We can show we DO want/need this program! And we can have a fun racing at BIR again! Thank You All Very Much!!!!!!! Glen DeMenge |
Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
The tech line relocation is great, however, last year I was still in line for a tech card at 10:00 so I hope they are able to staff it so we can get down to tech.
After the first race is there any talk about extended tech? Either way the improvements or plans sound great and look forward to the first outing. Tim |
Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
I'm going to sit back and be silent this year. Four cars out of this camp will be ready!
|
Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011
Hi Tim
They ARE GOING TO DOUBLE the help in the tech card/payment, shirt shack under the condo. As far as Extended Tech. NHRA has put an end to all Extended Tech.Like they had in the past. The one that was performed by the tracks themselves. However you CAN have the official NHRA EXTENDED TECH performed on your car It is available at BIR. At every race. (OFFERED AS TIME PERMITS) It is a Very Thorough inspection that takes 1-2 hours. BUT! then you are done for the year at all NHRA TRACKS. That is the only extended tech available now. Thanks Glen DeMenge Quote:
