Angela he has been called out and hasnt spoke a word. If he has the fastest G/SA in the country he would have answered.

Re: Sloan Racing Engines
Thanks Tim Sloan for my c/cm 385..
I have been very satisfied with its performance. Qualifing #1 at carolina was awesome. Hope I can win some races for you next year. |
Re: Sloan Racing Engines
Thanks Angela for the kind words about our association.

Angela - Yah, I was surprised when some guy wanted to drag other engine builders into a post that had nothing to do with him (or them). Particularly odd because several of them also do top-notch crate motor cars. I think each of them are quality builders, whose best crate motor pieces tend to run pretty close together. Oh, by the way... the Volare that Scott Macy is driving is Terry Taylor's old "Dem Boyz" car... I suspect a few NHRA guys might remember it... :D Yeah, maybe 430 runs isn't that big of a deal, but I figured that I'd better freshen it this winter because otherwise, it'll be over 700 runs by the end of next year. That happens when you 1) race a lot and 2) go a lot of rounds. I could go silly fast like everyone else but 1) why? 2) I don't have the money. It's just me and my 1500 Ram and an open trailer, getting 13mpg. Other guys can buy -1.30 under cars, toterhomes and stackers... they don't win races, and at that point you're definitely racing for entertainment. My racing operation pays for itself. David Buckner... is that the orange Duster I met at Tulsa? SWEET piece! Well enough of all that... we should be positive. I feel bad for 'john holmes'. |

The only thing we know for sure about Mr. Holmes is that he has an Alligator mouth and a Humingbird ***!!!!!

Re: Sloan Racing Engines
To be quite frank, we're not interested in racing a car we could only put 100 passes on. We put over 240 on the Volare this year, not only class racing with it but bracket racing as well. Of course in our situation we also raced old faithful, the Coronet, putting nearly as many runs on it as well.
For us, we race 40 plus weekends out of the year. Most times we're racing both Saturday and Sunday, and often on Friday as well. I believe this would be the case for Michael as well, and Jamie Southards isn't far behind with her schedule. A lot of our class racing friends only race 14ish times a year. In part because of what their schedule or finances would allow, and in part because of being limited as to what kind of racing they can do with their car. I will say that the fact that Scott is "in the seat" as much as he is, keeps his skills honed and in the end gives him an advantage over the competitor who isn't "in the seat" as much. Just a simple fact. My point basically is your traditional stocker is all fine and dandy, to each his own. But if you want to race full time/over time and get more bang for your buck then the crate motor is the way to go. Unless of course you are loaded and can afford to have two cars. Obviously in our case we have access to two race cars, but we only own one, and couldn't afford to have both of them if we wanted to. A Traditional Stocker is about as useful to us as having a Top Sportsman car. It's only good for that type of racing. I'd like to know how many races Mr. Holmes goes to each year in his traditional stocker. P.S. Marc Kinston - We'll stick with our home at IHRA where we are appreciated and welcome, it's the only way to go if you're a sportsman racer. |
Re: Sloan Racing Engines
My dad and I were long time Sloan Engine customers, Tim and his family have always been real good to us.
Even with older technology we still run well. As we move into the "next generation" of Shipmon racers we intend to again use Sloan Engines. Thanks for everything Tim , Shelia, Hillary, & Amos "Team Dog" Kevin Shipmon #9056 Stock |
Re: Sloan Racing Engines
Kevin, I was so proud of Kyle out there at the Piedmont Combo race. He was driving like a veteran driver. And what about those KILLER reaction times?????? Dad taught him well, huh?
|
Re: Sloan Racing Engines
Hillary he didnt learn that from dad. He was like .02 and .03 first and second round. He might have learned that from Sonny back in the day.
Kevin be ready at GRUDGE FEST SUNDAY IM CALLING YOU OUT. Ok before you guys go and bash me about this Kevin works at Piedmont and we eat lunch togather a few days a week. He knows what I'm talking about here and its all for the show this sunday. Kevin is going to pull the car up to the line, we with mics in hand we are going to start the negociation for a grudge race, then at the last minute he is going to put KYLE in the seat about 120 lbs lighter. THen Im going to open my trunk and throw out all the loose ballast I put in there "For the Show" Herb Jr So now you know the rest of the story. |
Re: Sloan Racing Engines
"And in this corner..." :D Nice. I'd watch that show! That should be a pretty good matchup, actually! Make sure Mike gets that one on video!
I heard that Kyle won first round... how far did he end up going? I know Kevin's a proud papa. Give him a thumbs up from me. Lots of second/third generation drivers at Piedmont, and cropping up in general. Shipmon, Fisher, Zimmerman, Peterson, not to mention Sloan and Carty, even though they're already veterans!. That's great to see. |
Re: Sloan Racing Engines
Are you trying to call me old?????? Ha ha!!! Just messing with ya.
|
Re: Sloan Racing Engines
Hillary you are old....haha......I remember when you were a kid and Mike use to chase you around.
Herb Jr |
Re: Sloan Racing Engines
Thanks Michael my dad and I put alot of work, time, and money in that car to get it where it is now. It always feels good to hear positive comments about my car. Makes all the work worth while. Now if we can only find a bracket mode and stay away from those red lights, then next season will be a blast.

Re: Sloan Racing Engines
yeah like the crate motor cars going .9 under only have a couple hundred bucks in them. i know mine has gone .75 under and ive spent more than enough loot. oh yeah its not a real stocker because i can readily buy parts anywhere. and not have to pay big dollars because i can only buy them on ebay or some collector who tells me how rare the heads are. besides dont some of the older big block chevys have nos heads ! and holleys. the only difference is the intakes.once again, off the shelf instead of a high dollar investment (only because the engine builder leaves it in the parts cleaner too long) still cost money to go 1.under even if its a 4 cyl. still an engine to power the car down the track.it dosent take away that it qualifys as a stocker. oh i mean a real stocker sorry!

Re: Sloan Racing Engines
Hello everyone I am sorry for hiding behind this name but i am an editor. I keep up with everyone i really do not see a problem with Mr. beard's post. The problem is sloan racing engines and every engine builder out there. I am sure Mr. Sloan is great with mopars and "again i am an editor" so i keep up with everyone so case in point at the world finals Mr. sloan claimed he built hudlows motor HE DID NOT he only freshend the motor. I heard it three times. HE DID NOT build bertozzi motor he only freshend the motor.I herd that twice. I do not meen to be bashing Mr sloan but this is who we are talking about. Another case is mike castellana who took his fulton motor to reher-morrison and claims reher-morrison built the motor. Now i just wish engine builders would stop claiming engine combinations they did not do. Building an engine is one thing but freshening is another. And I do recall Mr. sloan building a D/CM engine that did not make the power, tried twice I think. So mabe he needs to stick with mopars and reher-morrison to stick with sportsman motors. From the worst of engine builders to the best they all do it PS I can only post once a month, I am under contract see you in december over&out

Re: Sloan Racing Engines
Wow...I didn't know you could be an Editor with a third grade education.
In case you're wondering, the word "I" should always be capitialized. You should also capitialize someones name, such as Mr. Beard or business names, such as Sloan Racing Engines. And it's "heard" (as in hearing something) and not "herd" (as in a herd of sheep). It's "mean" and not "meen", as well as "maybe" and not "mabe". Learn to use some commas and eliminate the run on sentences and you might make a decent Editor when you grow up. Next time pick a more believable profession, Mr. Wilson. Like shytstirrer (spelled wrong intentionally) or troublemaker. |
Re: Sloan Racing Engines
And it is "You're" fired. ;)
The REAL Mr. Wilson is Father Time, or Good Ol' Mr. Wilson. I recommend you find another pseudonym. You sully his good name. And Mr. Wilson the Editor is Dale Wilson, who is also far more respectable than you purport to be. (Here's a reference, in case you need help with anything... www.dictionary.com) I posted that Sloan has done work for Bertozzi's Super Stock program. I did not say that he built his engines. Tim has specifically told me in the past that he never wanted to give anyone a wrong impression, that he freshened some stuff for Bertozzi's Super Stock program, and that Warren does Bertozzi's Stock stuff. Tim's as straight up as they come -- as evidenced by his many customers posting here. Because of those opinions and support, which comes from real people, it just makes internet trolls look stupid. Just goes to show how great a job Tim does, to raise the ire of a couple of wanna-be hecklers. LOL! >> And I do recall Mr. sloan building a D/CM engine that did not make the power Oh, would that be Chip Johnson's old Nova? That thing was stupid fast, actually... Chip kept trying to slow it down to keep from red lighting. Besides that, you'll also find a wide variety of performances out of any engine builders shop, based on how the customer wants his engine built. Oh, BTW, I won Modified at Roxboro tonight with my Sloan Racing Engines built 360 Magnum. That'd be 16 final rounds this year. Thanks, Tim! |
Re: Sloan Racing Engines
Hey Angela, I had to vent! Sometimes I write silly to break up the norm. Hope to see you at the banquet and Michael I have no disrespect to Dale Wilson. I just like the name Mr. Wilson. I have always liked the show Dennis the Menace. No harm done I hope to see you too at the banquet.

Re: Sloan Racing Engines
wow not only can I keep up with all the racing jargon, I can also re learn my grammer skills and my sppelling skilz. I love this website! good job in mod duckboy.

Re: Sloan Racing Engines
Sloan can build chevys too.
He did my last ZZ4 and it was really fast 10.40's in F/CM 1/4 mile. 6.40's in the 1/8th. In fact that motor will be in competition next year in another car. Track support was great also. Hillary stepped out of her car and let me drive it once because I had troubles. Whether Sloan can build a motor is not the debate here , it's the WHINE and Cheese crowd from that left coast organization that think they are better. How about ya'll Whine and cheezers go blow. If you don't think these are real stockers look in the IHRA rule book and show me that they are not. If you don't like IHRA thats fine stay over there and let NHRA dictate when and where you can race. I'll stay over here in the Hill billy organization and race all the races if I want too. One more thing I'm not bashing NHRA I may compete at an event or 2 next year. They have a rule book too and at that time I will have to go by them. |
Re: Sloan Racing Engines
Thanks DuckTape, I would like Hillary and Mr. Sloan to know that the mister wilson that wrote the "i am a editorr" message is not The Orignal Good Ol Mr. Wilson, I don't know where he came from. I told the other side of the family to never leave him alone as he was very dangerous and to put him back in the closet. Make yourself know or shut the heck up, This is none of your business. If you have a problem with this look me up at The Rock next year and I will set you straight. Mr. Sloan is a straght up Guy. Case closed.

Re: Sloan Racing Engines
Sometimes you write silly to break up the norm? I won't even try to understand that.
If we were going to the banquet, how would we know if we met you or not since you're using an alias? Why not just tell us who you are exactly. Atleast tell us what publication you work for. Hey, I could help you edit! You said in your first post you'd see us in December. I assumed you meant for the PRI show since it is in December. But now you said you'd see us at the banquet, which is next weekend, which is November. So which is it? We're not going to the banquet anyhow. The past two years or three it's been in our back yard. The first year we would have wanted to go and it gets move back to Ohio. Isn't that just our luck?! The trip up there would cost us probably $600 (Nearly half our winnings) and would require us to take this Friday off (losing money at the shop and me losing a vacation day), and we'd miss the Footbrake Nationals this coming weekend at Farmington. If Scott would have won the World Championship we would of went. We finished 3rd in the World if you were wondering, thanks to the help of Sloan Racing Engines. Michael Beard, please bring our Ironman back if they will let you and it's not an inconvenience and you have room. You better not get any scratches on it either.....ha ha....just picking :) |
Re: Sloan Racing Engines
I had a old LS1 with a hole in the side of it sitting in my garage I thought it was junk. I gave it to Tim Sloan and he fixed ( built it from the hole in the block up including the heads ) it gave it back to me and it was a spare. This summer I put it in my car and it went 9.60 @ 3090lbs first pass, what a spare. He can build a fast Chevy.
Tim ,his family and shop are first class and everyone who knows them will tell you the same. He also can throw a heck of a party |
Re: Sloan Racing Engines
>> He also can throw a heck of a party
LOL! Thanks to you, Bo. We all appreciated it. :) Angela - if you drop Sherrie Barbour a line at IHRA, I'm sure she'd set your trophies aside for me to transport back for you. |
Re: Sloan Racing Engines
I'll email her....I didn't even think about us having two.
|
Re: Sloan Racing Engines
Okay, so I go out of town for two days and come home to find this JUNK. I probably should not respond to this, but here goes.......
First of all, whatever business goes on between us and Bertozzi/Hudlow will stay that way. It is not our place to tell you what we did to their motors, nor is it any of your BUSINESS. Robbie chose to put our decal on his hood. We did not make him. If you want to know anything about Bertozzi's/Hudlow's motors, then the best thing I can tell you is to ask them because we are not discussing it. No need to broadcast their personal business on here!!! I am so flattered that you keep up with what motors that we are building and what makes good horsepower and what doesn't. If you kept up with half as much as you say, then you would already know that we have never built a D/CM motor, much less tried twice. We have done some D/CM heads for some local people that run crate motor, but we have not built a motor that runs D/CM, end of story. I particularly loved your suggestion that we stick with mopars. If you had even read the posts on this topic, then you would know that Lee Truell qualified #1 at the Jackson divisional with our motor.......in a CHEVY!!!!!! I will see you at the banquet, but as Angela says, I will never know it because you are hiding behind "Mr. Wilson." P.S. I thought you could only post once a month.......looks to me like you have plenty of time on your hands. |

Re: Sloan Racing Engines
Wow!! I clicked on classracer and got dragraceresults. LOL I love the fact that some idiot stirs the pot, everyone calls him every name in the book....yet it turns into an 8 page topic. Too funny :-) I am not a "class racer" but a bracket racer but do like this site. Keep the shyt stirring....can we go back to buttons in stock? LMAO
