Glenn, is it a possibility to have or be a contingency sponsor?

Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011

Its possible but not very probable. Do you want to be one??? How much money you got?

Hi
It's funny you should ask.
I was thinking the same thing.
It may be hard to secure a contingency sponsor, BUT it could be done.
I am thinking we could have some TAX issues with it.
It would be a deal where maybe...
the track could take the money and pay it out to the racers??
I don't know all the details but I know most the other "groups" do things like that.
Thanks we need this kind of input and ideas!
Glen

If your going to look for a sponsor, and then accidently find one, better have a good plan on how they can promote their business. They are not going to give you "money for nothing and the chicks are free" !!! They want customers in return.

Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011

Also if you get a big contigency sponsor, who is going to give it out, the sponsor will want to write it off , that means that who ever wins the prizes should be a1099 reciepiant and a lot of headaches for the bookeeper. Just my 2 cents

Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011

Joe,

You need to settle down now. Everyone is a 1099 recip., even when you go to the casino and win big.

A series sponsor can be handled differently than a "contigency" sponsor. Proceeds are provided to the track and the track dispurses at each event. The track already has your SSN or FED ID # for taxes on file.

Anyone ready for spring?

Tim

Eric If you come up with a Sponser I think that woul be great. If they would sign up for the full race season, we could name the Five Race series, after there company, and this would be added on top of the pay out from BIR.

The Easiest way to pay out would be send the Sponser the Six Racer's that have money coming, Have the sponser write out the check, and mail them back to the Racer's. At the end of the year they can send out a 1099 form. If They have a company, they are aready sending out 1099 to other vendors & suppliers.

They would have to come up with at least $ 1000.00 per Race, otherwise
we would be getting 1099s,for for Fifty and hundred dollor checks.

A 1099 is not needed under $600 you are supposed to still claim the money but the 1099 is not needed. Now they may need to do it for the companies tax purpose so they can write it off. I am not familiar with that side of it.
I agree if it was $1000 per race for naming rights. But there is no reason to turn down any extra money some one may want to put in.

Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011

Instead of worrying about a sponsor, we had better concentrate on getting more than 16 cars at BIR, then we can worry about someone to help pad our payout.I need a sponsor to help me buy diesel to get to the track! How about this, I'll be a sponsor, if the winner or runner-up has a furnace or AC put in by me, I'll pay contigency. So now you have a sponsor, so lets get to BIR and race with a full field.

Now THATS a great idea. The racers are going to have to support and help out on these circut races. I dont have a business to promote but will be paying $100 to win and $50 runner up at the $10,000 race that Lee Zane and Vanpoppel are putting on here on the east coast just to show support for class racing. I hope more of your fellow racers in your area will step up and help out in some small way. It dosent have to be big or a lot. You only get out what you put into it these days with the lesser payouts at the NHRA events. Good luck to all.

Hey Joe,

Do you think you could find your way up to northern WI? For the three days a year we need AC, my wife wants it so we should talk.

Tim

Tim, I sure can, lets get rid of some snow, then we'll get serious about it. Thanks

Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011

That's what I was thinking about. One of the excuses guys use on not going to certain races is because of low payout, well wouldn't $100 to win $50 r/u help.

Well then if you want $100 win and $50ru you had better find a few businesses like mine and then support them, then try to talk them into it. Its a two way street!

Joe, I picked up a tad over $8,000 from or local Forest Lake/Hugo local busisnesses one year (2006) and put it back into our sport. Bought all the sponsors a small "Thank you" plaque. The monies recieved were paid all the way back to the 8's. Maybe it's time for you and me get together and start knocking on some doors.

Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011

Hemidup, i'm kind of used up trying to raise money, remember, I was involved with USA for around 10 years or more, so its time for new blood in that area. All I really have planned for this year is going to BIR and race. I'm sure there are some young ones that would love to get involved with that kind a deal. I haven't a clue what USA has planned for this year, they might be interested in some help in fund raising. Thanks, Joe

Re: S/SS combo @ BIR 2011

Here is a challenge for everyone.(and I need some help)
Dr. J. gave me this idea and I think he may be right on.
The plan he has, is for everyone to call a fellow S/SS racer that has not been attending
the combo races for what ever reason it may be.

Just give them a call even if you don't know them personally and just say hello and ask them about why they are not going. And the fact that BIR is having S/SS combo races.
Talk about the fun that we who do attend have, and maybe just life in general.
In hopes of encouraging them to go to BIR & race or just go to see everyone again.
(But we need all the race cars we can get!)
Sometimes a personal contact is very powerful!
Especially if it is from someone you don’t know all that well, or it could be an old racing
friend you haven’t seen in years.
It may be good to get back in-touch.

IT’S ALL UP TO YOU To keep the BIR S/SS combos going!
I am working hard and putting my time in on this deal.
If you could please find the time & give me a hand by at least trying this.
It can’t hurt a thing.
Heck, it might be kinda fun!

Thanks For Your time and your Help with this!!!!

By the way:YOU ONLY HAVE 64 DAYS LEFT UN-TILL THE BIR OPENER :)
So.... get your cars ready lets support this deal as much as we can !!!!!!!!!!!!
See ya!
Glen Demenge
