Belle Rose S & SS combo
I'm missing something in the rules for the CIC race. According to DRC, Cummings had the worse package 3 times (including the last 2 rounds) and yet won. How?

Re: Belle Rose S & SS combo
DRC didn't update CIC impacts from round to round.

Re: Belle Rose S & SS combo
Since we get the index from the timing system, I'm not sure how the CICs were being applied.

Re: Belle Rose S & SS combo
It appears that they used 1 second under as the cic hit! If, for example, a driver went 1.35 under his 12.05 index in the first round, and won, his second round index was 11.70!!
That had to be a fun race! I really loved seeing a Comp driver get spanked by a certain Super Stock standout! When a 7 under pass beats a better than 1 second under pass.......OUCH!! They should have more of these! Maybe Dave Ley was paying attention. I could see a Saturday night index race at his next combo!! I would have loved a seat at the finish line! |
Re: Belle Rose S & SS combo
Bryan,
If that's the case, why does Buckner continue running on a 12.00 Index after running 1.26 under the first round, and then way under again later? Whatever the set-up was, it certainly doesn't appear to be consistent. Jerry |

Re: Belle Rose S & SS combo
Bryan,
DRC shows his dial (not his index) as 12.00 in the final. He went 10.776 which is shown as -1.224 under, with a .010 light. That's a .157 better package. What part of the math is wrong? |
Re: Belle Rose S & SS combo
Bryan,
I'm aware of the "numbers". My point is that the methodology for listing the INDEX (dial) on a particular car/driver wasn't very consistent. In some cases, they changed the Index, and in others they didn't. It was rather obvious that guys were winning against much better packages, so adjustments were being made somewhere. Moot point now. Congrats to Slate for his excellent driving. Jerry |
Re: Belle Rose S & SS combo
Guys, the DRC input had to be submitted manually for a download. I haven't seen their thread, but I can tell you that the "dial-in" for the 1st round was a driver's index. I personally wrote their dial-in using their respective class index.
Some used a ton of index to win rounds, while others ran less than 1.00 under to save their index. I used each round's run sheet from the tower to make the following round dial-in changes. The race was a big hit with the drivers and we will definitely do this again next year, and may do it as an all-run instead of class winners only. Pat |
Re: Belle Rose S & SS combo
I can say first hand that Pat put on a heck of a race. He worked his tail off to make sure everyone's dial-ins were right, and made a ladder for us to run on. This is hands down the best race of the season, and Pat is definitely the best track owner in the country. Thanks again Pat and the crew for everything. Now if I can just get that 1-2 shift down maybe I can WIN it next year....I heard they run faster that way!! Haha see y'all next year...

Pat,
Now I understand. Thanks. Wish I could make it there again but $4 diesel makes it tough to justify a 2500 mile trip. Pass my congrats to Kevin. |
Re: Belle Rose S & SS combo
Buckner's index was 11.74 from round 2 on I think. Or maybe that was round 2 of beer. Somebody help me here.

I hope this gets picked up at other special events-I'd love to see one of these at the Dutch Classic. |
Re: Belle Rose S & SS combo
Pat,
Did you have a ladder for 1st round or as it random? I participated in the NSCA race at Cecil County in 2006. We ran off our index with a CIC. Only 6 cars though. I had a lot of fun and said if there were about 16 or more cars that alot of CIC would be going on. It appeared this was the casse in Belle Rose. It just goes to show the fastest car doesn't always win. Nice job Slate. |

DRC has his Index as 12.00 for all six rounds. Should have been 11.74 from round 2 on? |
Re: Belle Rose S & SS combo
yes sir I got hit .26 in the first round partly because i was still a little "foggy" from the long night of crawfish and beer the night before, but mostly because the fellow I ran was really really fast. I figured i was toast, but got a few lucky breaks. Then had to run austin ford for the bye to the final. Got'em on the tree then he couldn't catch me, so like a good friend he dumped me at about 1200' or so. They should try this at all sports nationals, where they have the time to run all of these FREE FUN races.... Thanks again Pat and can't forget Mr.Teuton for hosting the Top Stock race, just couldn't quite get my car down to the 2500lb minimum!!

Re: Belle Rose S & SS combo
Byron,
We used the "cards" system to random draw from two lanes. We put stock in lanes 1 & 2, super stock in 3 & 4. We ran stock against stock and ss against ss until we had a total of 8 or fewer cars remaining. We used reaction times to qualify the remaining drivers, and the 3 stockers and 3 super stockers were paired on a ladder, with the higher qualfied driver getting lane choice. Our card system has four 1's and four 2's in the deck. I shuffle the cards and pull from the top, with the 1st car going to the left, the next car going to the right lane. That way, you don't know if you will run the guy in front of you, beside you, or two cars back on the side of you. It all worked out pretty good, and I didn't have any complaints from any of the drivers. The qualifying had number one qualifier, Austin Ford running David Buckner with the winner getting a bye into the finals. It worked out that 2 stockers rand each other, two ss'ers ran each other, and a stocker rand a super stocker per the ladder in the quarters. About as even as one can get... Pat |
