Portable blower/fan for engine bay while in pits?

Ok, I *know* I've seen this in Jegs or Summit, but now I can't find it...I'm talking about the portable blower (fan) that you set in front of the car and it blows air up through the radiator & core support...seems to me like the unit was blue colored?

Anyway, what's this little gem called??

I think I know what you are talking about - they are called Air Movers. You actually might get a better price buying one through a restaurant supply store or even Sams Club - I think I saw some there once. They are made to blow air at a high rate to quick dry floors that are wet. I have seen them in a few trailers over the years. We just use a small none-pedastal fan we set near the intake after a run to shock the temp down a bit. Beth

Found a link to one if this is what you are looking for:

Have a good friend in the home a/c unit repair business. He will have a home blower unit from a central a.c unit for you. got one I use in my garage, put a 3 speed switch on it, works pretty good. Havn't tried to use it for the car yet.

So, does anyone here actually *use* one of these? Looking at the pictures, I'm wondering if it sits too high to blow up from the bottom, yet too low to blow through the grill? Do I just need to stick to the old "box fan laying on the core support" technique?

Thanks!

My wife picked up one of these from Sams. I had her go back and get me 2 of them. 40-50 ea I think.http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o...1344280_L4.jpg

Seems to do pretty good. I am making a stand for them to set on.

Does NHRA require a supplemental insurance policy and duct work that exits above the trailer for those things?

If you folks lived and raced out here in beautiful Southern California ya wouldn't need those fans.

Floyd, please don't invite anymore people to move to SOCAL, the streets of gold
have already been pulled up, melted and sold for scrap. Now all we have is potholes.

Phil, I wasn't inviting, I was just bragging. And that was said with tongue in cheek

Harbor freight, and you can also get a heater for it and use it in the trailer to warm up if needed.

It is cheaper than the Jegs one, and is quiet and moves alot of air. It is small too.
