Re: Anyone moving to a stick from auto next year?
Scott, I think everyone is holding their breath waiting for the season to
end so the the NHRA can make a statement over you-know- what. Depending on the outcome you might see a lot of people moving to stick. Just my .02----------John |
Re: Anyone moving to a stick from auto next year?
I hear you

Re: Anyone moving to a stick from auto next year?
scott i know dad would love to, but getting rid of two TH350's, a TH400, 2 converters and a shifter in this economy is rough

Re: Anyone moving to a stick from auto next year?
Scott, if they make that stuff for fwd cars, then I'd consider it. However, if Glendora does put that rumor into effect, then I guess I'll be glad that I also have my comp number for bracket racing....it's more fun to do as well (and cheaper)!!!

Re: Anyone moving to a stick from auto next year?
Enlighten the rest of us. What are the rumors? Don Jackson

Re: Anyone moving to a stick from auto next year?

I would hope they consider maybe a small weight advantage to the stick cars. Don |
Re: Anyone moving to a stick from auto next year?
Thats my question. Will there still be a different weight break for autos and sticks ?
|
Re: Anyone moving to a stick from auto next year?
Slightly more heads up racing, Maybe more money for class. Lets do it!!!!

Re: Anyone moving to a stick from auto next year?

Re: Anyone moving to a stick from auto next year?
McLeod is a nice starter clutch but if you really want to get it right you would call Rob at Advanced Clutches and save a bunch of money in the long run.

Re: Anyone moving to a stick from auto next year?
I was thinking maybe next year I might try a stick combo
|
Re: Anyone moving to a stick from auto next year?
If the merging of stick and auto happens, I wonder what will happen to the NHRA HP ratings that are,in some instances, not the same on a engine combo that has only stick/auto as a difference?
|
Re: Anyone moving to a stick from auto next year?
Silly me, I thought you guys were talking about other rumors we discussed earlier in the year (the diapers and blankets on engines and trannies). Now that I know this (if they in fact do that), it won't be any different than what was done years ago with the fwd classes...nor would it surprise me since it would wipe out a bunch of classes, and more national event singleton runs for class wins...which I'm sure the manufactures of the few remaining contingency for class posting products would love!
If that does happen, it surely will help out the manufactures by reducing their posting costs, however I'll probably be dreaming for the day thay we racers will be helped out, by having our (let's say) entry fees reduced, to make it easier for us to afford to go racing...I know, never ending dream!!! I'll likely win a national/divisional event sooner than that'll happen!!! |
Re: Anyone moving to a stick from auto next year?
I'ts not about merging or changing the class line up or combining classes IT'S ABOUT SHIFTING GEARS AND HAVING FUN. Very few have raced against or beside one of the new combo cars...and yet you run. Go stick and hide for awhile!!
|
Re: Anyone moving to a stick from auto next year?
Scott, I'm with you on the fun factor of racing a stick, and banging the gears (which is why I won't drive a stick car on the street...I'd too easily get in trouble with the bears, county mounties, and the local yolkos), but not with my car. Over the years I've been keeping track of the fwd stockers that have been going rounds, and most (if not all) of them that do go rounds are automatics...mainly because the aftermarket at least makes convertors and shift kits that can hop up an automatic transaxle. However, with the manual transaxle you need to be good (which I'm not) at fabricating components to make them more consistent (and competition worthy) like you rwd 4spd racers enjoy...I always thought if I raced the old-school type of 4spd, I'd borrow from that shift pattern (and my last names 1st letter), and call my car "THE GR8FUL H'er"!!!
