NHRA NATIONAL CLASS PERFORMER AWARD TIE-BREAKER METHODS If a tie exists (for the season ending National Class Performer Award Championship) at the conclusion of the Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, it shall be resolved as follows. If, after step one is followed a tie still remains, additional steps are to be followed until tie is broken. 1. Review full season of points earned. Driver with most class wins (out of 3 scored events) wins tie. 2. Review full season of scored events (scored events are 3 of first 5 events at which driver received points). Driver with most rounds won wins tie. 3. Review full season of points earned. Driver running furthest under the class index on a class winning run wins tie. 4. Review full season of points earned. Driver with most class wins (out maximum 5 possible events) wins tie. 5. Review full season of scored events. Driver with most “head to head” victories wins tie. 6. Calculate average qualifying positions from scored events. Qualifying position to be rounded to one decimal point – for example, a driver qualifying 8, 15, and 9 would have a 10.7 average. Driver with the lowest average qualifying position wins tie. 7. Calculate average qualifying elapsed times from scored events. Driver with the quickest average qualifying elapsed time wins tie (SS, Stock is furthest under their class index). |
Re: NHRA Class points updated...
Right Tom, should have said tie-breakers will come into play. Thanks for posting them to clarify.

Re: NHRA Class points updated...
I'd say tie-breaker #2 will determine your winner (most rds won).
For example... Bryan Chaney won 4 rds at Indy, and Roy Hill, Mike Cotten, and Lloyd Wofford (and others) won 3 rds at Indy. One more class win for any of these guys could put them in a good position. By the way... what does it pay? |

Re: NHRA Class points updated...
Why would Indy not count? That combo deal is what Chaney ran.
|
Re: NHRA Class points updated...
Indy does not count and only one Sportsnational can be used for the best three out of five races.

Re: NHRA Class points updated...

When I pointed out all the deficiencies.
I was called a cry baby Now I'm sitting here with an ear to ear grin. |
Re: NHRA Class points updated...
I must be missing something. I don't see anybody complaining.
|
Re: NHRA Class points updated...
One of the best moves nhra as made in a while, at least for the fans and the sponsers.
|
Re: NHRA Class points updated...
Much better to watch than single runs. So far I've not heard any of the guys running those complain either. Pretty good to watch at Indy.
|
Re: NHRA Class points updated...
Then everyone must be happy as a clam.
Or people don't have the guts to put it in writing? Whatever. |
Re: NHRA Class points updated...
The only complaint that I have heard at the track is the Situation with the "Combo Class" There is really nothing to complain about the alternative was the whole program would have gone away with all the single runs the sponsors were getting nothing out of the old system, it was broken and needed to be fixed.

Re: NHRA Class points updated...
About all I have ever heard was like "Guess the gravy train as ended." Nothing real negative. Well, except from one guy here. :-)

I was at Atlanta for the nationals. 13 car in the combo auto superstock class first round of class. Second round 3 cars. I guess 4 cars were so happy they forgot to come back. BTW nhra gave out 12 trophies at that race. A lot of cars have just decided not to bother with the combo stuff. Just run first round of class and park them. |
Re: NHRA Class points updated...
If you ran a class that normally had a lot of cars you would see slower guys doing that in regular classes. First round is still qualifying, guys that don't have a shot just don't come back for a sure butt kicking. Nothing new about that.

Re: NHRA Class points updated...
Maybe nobody is complaining because there is nothing to complain about. Add some money to the program and then you will hear more mouths. Art is right on this; the system is unfair in some aspects and will need adjustments. Let’s just hope next year we get a few more stickers on the list.
