No HP for 1.20 under at National Opens

It looks like NHRA has made it where National Opens no longer offer the possibility of horsepower, should make it interesting for races like the Dutch Classic, Indy Open, etc. I guess you can set records over 1.20 under without horsepower now?

Quote:

No runs made during National Opens, test and tune, time trials, or races within a race (i.e. Jegs Allstar eliminations, Stock / Super Stock Combos or other races that are not part of a season long points championship) are included in the 1.200-second-or-more-under review or adjustment.

In my opinion, runs associated with officially recognized NHRA record runs and a positive teardown inspection should be subject to inclusion/review, regardless of the event.

The other stuff is fine I guess. Guys can go play/show off and enjoy it a little, a couple times a year.

So the ones that were made in 2012 were they suppossed too ? Looks like that includes record runs . Hats off to NHRA for making it clear to everyone for 2013 . I wonder what the policy is for tear downs and supensions ?

Does it still count towards a 1 second flag so that is just delayed gratification?

What part of the following posted on the NHRA website as mentioned in Andrew's thread do you not understand?

"No runs made during National Opens, test and tune, time trials, or races within a race (i.e. Jegs Allstar eliminations, Stock / Super Stock Combos or other races that are not part of a season long points championship) are included in any review."

not that i never said the Automatic Help For Slugs (AHFS) cannot and would not EVER work to keep the playing field level... now NHRA has cut the gonads out of it...

how in the heck is it EVER supposed to hit the fast cars if they keep raising and now eliminating the trigger runs ????????

this is without a doubt the most ignorant thing NHRA has done lately... and thats saying something !

And what if the National Open is part of a point’s championship? They are in Division 6

I'm in with that!

Then a pan removal and a piston and rod on the table
in "THE BARN" after the final, for both winner and runner-up!
(For anyone running 1.10 under or better) that is..

Lets get it done!!

Setting records at the single day Opens will be a little tough unless you don`t want to run elims.

Most opens are Saturday/Sunday. Quite a few are set each year at the Indy Open and the Dutch Classic I know.

I can't recall a national open in Div 3 that wasn't a Saturday/Sunday race.

For the past several years there`s been a single day Open at Bandimere in May. Other than that one you are correct, most are 2 day events in Division 5 as well.

Well, you were right about it being tough to set a record on a one day race. I would have to guess that if you did set a record, that tear down would not happen. Makes sense when you think about it. No HP for -1.20 or more, why bother checking anything.

Re: No HP for 1.20 under at National Opens

Do you have the option of showing up apart, getting checked and sealed, the day before? IHRA does that, when they do a double (race each day). teardown or show up apart on Friday, get inspected, put it back together, IHRA seals it, set the record Saturday during the two time trials, they check the seals, and you run round one later that day.

Apparently I have offended you to trigger such a hostile respone. But I really don't care. Obviously, you are a very angry guy. I don't recall your name or meeting you at a National or even at a Divisiona. But I do have a way of becoming a target. So go ahead and take a shot. I have been attacked before and am still here.

What part of it, did I miss? Thanks for asking. It was the part that answered my question. Thanks for pointing it out.

In 2011 in November at the divisional in Vegas, the runs came later in the day. Somehwere around 4:99 as I recall. So we got permission to be torn down earlier, and finished putting it all back together and getting it all sealed up, just as they were call Stock to the lanes.

Then we went out got the record.

I guess it depends on the schedule, and the Divisional tech management.

That's good info there. :)

Bill, I gave up on National Opens a couple of years ago after I had to dial for what should have been a heads up, do they weigh and check fuel now?

I can't understand why the rules should be relaxed for a race where you are allowed to set a record. All rules should be enforced, including the AHFS.
