Just one more reason to race with IHRA. I remember when they had 80 stockers at that race in 2002.

And nobody has ever heard of most of their "Pros"

Re: No Sportsmen at IHRA Martin this weekend?
They did the same stupid s... At San Antonio this year. Stupid

Re: No Sportsmen at IHRA Martin this weekend?
Disappointing for me as well. I'll still be there, running the Modified bracket this weekend as I live just 45 mins. from the track. At least they'll be running Stock, Super Stock, etc. at the Pro-Am the following weekend.

Re: No Sportsmen at IHRA Martin this weekend?
Well Billy Meyer bankrupted the IHRA doing the same thing.
I really am not inclined to run NHRA points races as we have a "No SeaDoo racing policy." |

Now we know our priority in points races, so we plan to attend the least amount as possible. Of course why run for poor pay outs anyway? Thus our "no SeaDoo" policy. |
Re: No Sportsmen at IHRA Martin this weekend?
I have scheduled race series before for a number of years and it is very difficult to keep everyone happy. The Martin race is a welcome two day race where we as sportsman racers are the focus not the Pros.:)

Grand Bend was a grand plus all those wonderful stickers. There was 200.00 cheque from Clevite right then and there. :) That was the Sunday race. Not sure what Saturday paid.

I would addopt the same policy. I would not go anywhere I knew was running them. |

Lynn,
Dean won sat. race at cordova and it payed 3800 + with not many stickers. I didn't look at sunday. Its going to take time for Scott to turn it around but they are working hard to get what the monster truck people did to mess it up out of it. Just wait and give them some time greg |

Looking at other discussions on class racer, people wondering why NHRA can't do double week ends, I think IHRA is right on . Having these double Pro Am races is great . I think we should be supporting IHRA as much as we can.

I like double pro am, I have tryed to figure out though, back when it was single pro am at Mt.Park clay city KY we would have 50-60 stockers 50-60 super stockers show up.
Doubles get 17-25, I know there are several things that changed about the same time, IHRA split into divisions, started doubles and economy went bad,I don't know if it was one change by itself or combination of all three, while division 3 IHRA has struggled.in KY,division 3 in KY NHRA has seemed to keep going strong. Re: No Sportsmen at IHRA Martin this weekend?
A double is much easier when you have 20 or fewer cars in S & SS.
|
Re: No Sportsmen at IHRA Martin this weekend?
Personally I love the doubles with the travel time and money it saves. Apparently it's do-able for NHRA because they've done it in Atlanta. (Haven't been there myself.) But one drawback is time for teardowns if setting records in either sanction.

Re: No Sportsmen at IHRA Martin this weekend?
I don't know why they are trying to separate them this year. It costs the track double to pay for the IHRA Officials to come back 2Hardly anyone knows the INRA pros, so right now, I can't see how it is much of a draw anyway. Unless they can get some names to establish the brand, I don't see how it is going become much.
I would like to see IHRA go to Friday/Saturday for the 2 day races. Most racers could be at the track ready to run Friday evening. They also need to consider running the stand alone pro ams on a Saturday at tracks with a Sunday Morning start time curfew. If folks from outside the division travel there and can't start till noon on Sunday, if you do very good, its 430 or 500 getting on the road then have a 6 hour drive home. I think its alot easier to take a Friday off and travel to the race to be ready then have Sunday as rain/date or leisurly travel day home. Otherwise, getting home at 10 or 11 pm after a long day then trying to get up Monday morning for work is tough when you travel very far from home. |
