Re: IHRA ProAm Capitol Raceway
I am not aware of a rule change that allows other than pump gas for a pure stocker

Re: IHRA ProAm Capitol Raceway
You actually have to watch using pump gas as 99% of it will NOT pass fuel check. Went thru it too many times with bobby butlers mustang. I'd worry about pure stockers with the wrong camshaft and aftermarket/upgraded brakes that are both not legal

Re: IHRA ProAm Capitol Raceway
I use mostly Sunoco 93.
Like to add some 260 Gx 98 gas with no ethenol. Pure Stocker are not checked for fuel. Love we can use pump fuel. |
Re: IHRA ProAm Capitol Raceway
Pure stock, crate motor or gt at a true old school national event WAS fuel checked. Never have done it at divisionals and since that's basically all we have in Ihra anymore no one gets checked. Maybe I'll set an example next week at capital it's only $50 to protest for fuel check at any time. Would you like to take a chance on your pump gas passing? I don't mind spending $50 to prove a point…

Not sure what IHRA would be testing for? The rules are clear we can use pump gas. Add a little race gas. So do not know what the alarm is. Was fuel checked at ClassNationals 2 years ago ! What would they be looking for ? Dan |

Re: IHRA ProAm Capitol Raceway
Gary NO. There is however some people claiming pure stock that aren't pure stock by the rule book. Example brakes: OEM upgrade allowed not aftermarket! Tim griffeth (sp?) had his pure stock mustang back in the day and switched brakes on the front which then got him tossed out of pure stock and into traditional stocker status. Back to fuel in pure stock. The approved fuel sheet says "pure stock entries may utilize OEM unleaded blends meeting rule book specifications" so we go to the rule book where stock has to remain a dielectric constant of +2.3… pump gas won't have that unless your getting it from down south as they use a different blend. (If you'd like I'll bring my fuel checking equipment). SO when mixed with whatever you want to mix it with, it really goes off the scale. Kinda like me mixing C11 and C25. Stock is a rule book based eliminator if you don't follow the rules in the book, you have a regular bracket car so you should claim the real class your in. Either footbrake or top.....

Duane;
Every once in a while someone will make a mistake. As for fuel it is open and pump gas is what it is. Where it is available locally and Unleaded Track gas. Until middle last year drove my car to the track. So only thing I could use was what was at the gas station. Never understood the need to run just expensive race gas. Our rules are basically before the Open Spring Rule. Our ETs reflect the times. If we are within the spirit of the law we are good. Seeing more Pure Stockers this year. Which is cool. Very fun cost effective way to run stock. D |

Re: IHRA ProAm Capitol Raceway
It's not legal if you can't pass fuel check so we will see if it can pass. As for Jim. Yep I raced my car twice at Mir last month. Last time was 2014 presidents cup before that was 2012? Richmond pro am. Now at Mir in 2014 where I won the Sunday race I won more rounds then your failed association has successfully completed this summer. Ive probably had the car (same car I built and have done everything on not bought cause my fwd car wouldn't fall out of tree) in tear down atleast 20 times. So yea I know the rule book some, besides when my father ran the sportsman side of Ihra I studied the book a lot. So if you need some advice down their in the sticks feel free to ask, put a condom on your heart cause your feelings are gonna be ****ed if you wanna keep starting ****. I went to 2 races in the last 2 years, what's your excuse for not being able to buy a round at your own events?

I realized that we hijacked this thread and I apologize for my part. It was my fault. Jim

I will call Capitol to see what fuel is stored! Pure Stock, IHRA lets us race with pump gas. Regular Stock requires the approved Fuels. IMHO should be optional like Pure Stock. The rules are what they are! Btw did you have the FWD Caddys in the 80s. You set the record in two of them and when it came to tech tear down. Nobody knew how to take the engine apart ;-) ? Dan |

Think you needed a Caddy specialist from Detroit to help put them back together. That was how new they were. 1983 won a point meets at Moroso. Beat Jim Jeffreies in the final. Paul Forte won SS. Won $1300 that night and passed tear down! Stan Welch lived nearby and let me park the Impala at his home. With that win and other rounds was running 3rd in points. Then my wife touched me on the shoulder. Our first baby was otw and soon after my company moved me to Orlando. Jim Jeffries later borrowed my 1969 Impala and won Sulfolk and semifinals in Louisiana. Still have the car going through restoration. Hope to see you all in Florida next year. Planning to load the tow car, trailer and Impala on the AutoTrain again. See if I can race all Division 2 series since they are all bunched together. Dan |
