I am not aware of a rule change that allows other than pump gas for a pure stocker

You actually have to watch using pump gas as 99% of it will NOT pass fuel check. Went thru it too many times with bobby butlers mustang. I'd worry about pure stockers with the wrong camshaft and aftermarket/upgraded brakes that are both not legal

I use mostly Sunoco 93.
Like to add some 260 Gx 98 gas with no ethenol. Pure Stocker are not checked for fuel. Love we can use pump fuel. |

Pure stock, crate motor or gt at a true old school national event WAS fuel checked. Never have done it at divisionals and since that's basically all we have in Ihra anymore no one gets checked. Maybe I'll set an example next week at capital it's only $50 to protest for fuel check at any time. Would you like to take a chance on your pump gas passing? I don't mind spending $50 to prove a point…

Not sure what IHRA would be testing for? The rules are clear we can use pump gas. Add a little race gas. So do not know what the alarm is. Was fuel checked at ClassNationals 2 years ago ! What would they be looking for ? Dan |

Gary NO. There is however some people claiming pure stock that aren't pure stock by the rule book. Example brakes: OEM upgrade allowed not aftermarket! Tim griffeth (sp?) had his pure stock mustang back in the day and switched brakes on the front which then got him tossed out of pure stock and into traditional stocker status. Back to fuel in pure stock. The approved fuel sheet says "pure stock entries may utilize OEM unleaded blends meeting rule book specifications" so we go to the rule book where stock has to remain a dielectric constant of +2.3… pump gas won't have that unless your getting it from down south as they use a different blend. (If you'd like I'll bring my fuel checking equipment). SO when mixed with whatever you want to mix it with, it really goes off the scale. Kinda like me mixing C11 and C25. Stock is a rule book based eliminator if you don't follow the rules in the book, you have a regular bracket car so you should claim the real class your in. Either footbrake or top.....

Duane;
Every once in a while someone will make a mistake. As for fuel it is open and pump gas is what it is. Where it is available locally and Unleaded Track gas. Until middle last year drove my car to the track. So only thing I could use was what was at the gas station. Never understood the need to run just expensive race gas. Our rules are basically before the Open Spring Rule. Our ETs reflect the times. If we are within the spirit of the law we are good. Seeing more Pure Stockers this year. Which is cool. Very fun cost effective way to run stock. D |
