Pure Stock Challenge - IHRA
Hello ALL Pure Stockers;
Got a cool announcement to make. DanSources Technical Services, Inc. is sponsoring the "Pure Stock Challenge" for IHRA. Have been working with IHRA for a few months and have given us the go-a-head. Some of you remember the Pure Stock Challenge working with (under appreciated) Mike Beard and Team sponsoring the challenge at the Class Nationals, which had a decent showing. The objective is to encourage more racers to consider building new Pure Stockers and earn a few bragging rights along the way. Looking at Paying out $300.00 to any Pure Stocker that Wins an IHRA Sportsman National Championship race and $125.00 for the Finalist. Still in the planning stages such as getting Stickers and how to get the Winners Paid. Would love others to help out to add to the pot or provide some other sponsorship. Needed to get this announcement out before the Immokalee Race so that this Sponsorship is in play. Feedback is welcomed. Can text me at 301-512-8034 or danfahey@dansources.com Dan Fahey |

Re: Pure Stock Challenge - IHRA
Dan,
Thank you for all you do and all your efforts to continue to promote Pure Stock. Despite what some think this is still a great entry-level way to get involved in class racing and I sincerely appreciate you and how you champion this cause. I know you do not get get told "thank you" enough and in fact am sure you get bashed too often from other class racers. I don't have a dog in the fight any longer but wanted you to know you're appreciated. Scott |

Sold the Corvette. Trailered it over 1000 miles to Detroit, Michigan over the holidays. After a cam change got it to run low 11s NA (never ran it on spray) and after 5 years decided it was time to do something different. Guy that bought it isn't a drag racer so it will be doing local cruises and show and shines. He was happy as pie with the car. Picked up a '72 Chevelle. Excited to do "old-school" again with a carb and leave behind computers, oxygen sensors, tuning with a computer etc. Car has a forged 383, roller, Dart heads, TH350 with brake, 12 bolt, 4.10, full cage, and 400hp NOS system. Clean as a pin! Wendy and I look forward to attending car shows both locally and nationally and do the "old people car show thing" but also plan to run a Super Chevy race every now and then in True Street. http://i1248.photobucket.com/albums/...Eminimizer.jpg http://i1248.photobucket.com/albums/...Eminimizer.jpg http://i1248.photobucket.com/albums/...Eminimizer.jpg http://i1248.photobucket.com/albums/...Eminimizer.jpg |
Re: Pure Stock Challenge - IHRA
NICE SCOTT !
WOW ....got the SS to run F/PS at Cecil Dragway Cold Air Day at a 12.68/105. Was 150 # over class weight. Ran mostly 13 oh's with a few high 12s in the heat. Have a few more mods and changes to find 3 more tenths to catch Corbitt Marchburn. After that there is no more. D |
Re: Pure Stock Challenge - IHRA
Does Corbitt still have the Impala SS and if so is he still running it in Pure Stock? I'm assuming that's my old car? I haven't spoken to him in a long, long time.

It ran a 12.39 on a minus 700 foot day. Made a 95 SS Wagon for G/PS - Sold that Then a B/PS Camaro...not sure of he has it. D |
Re: Pure Stock Challenge - IHRA
OK it is official.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.:D
DanSources Technical Services, Inc. is an official Contingency Sponsor for IHRA supporting the Pure Stock Challenge. Just signed the papers yesterday. DanSources will pay the Team $200 for the Win and $100 if Runner Up. This is for participating Pure Stockers only. Decals are being made as we speak by Staging Light (Mike Beard). All you need to do is grab a couple decals and post them to your car. Then make sure you send a current photo of your car to post on the PhotoGallery. The DanSources contingency program will begin at State Capitol Raceway (Baton Rouge) on March 4. Need to get with the WebMaster to ask him to add us to the front page to post news and trade thoughts. Would like to collaborate with other people considering supporting a sponsorship such as Setting a National Record in Pure Stock. OR some other cool idea.. Like a Dollar Challenge Pure Stocker beats a Crate Motor Cars  Can see it now..Pure Stocker Out Kicks Crate Motors Cars :) Dan |
Re: Pure Stock Challenge - IHRA
Dan, this is great news! we have a worthy pure stocker candidate in our driveway, just needs some minor TLC. What would be awesome is to get a deal like this for crate motor cars. Why stop at pure stockers? Its great to see companies hopping on board with IHRA and supporting these types of cars.

Re: Pure Stock Challenge - IHRA
Good news Dan !
Glad to see the added support for Pure Stock. I just wish we still had an IHRA event around here. I'd put the short belt back on the '95 GT and run it again. |

Re: Pure Stock Challenge - IHRA
Hey Dan,
Glad to here you got the ss to go ito the 12 sec zone. I'm with you on the pure stock class to bad i when't thru all that work getting my 2014 mustang approved by Mike to run in pure stock just to have ihra board diside a few months later not to allow any thing newer then 2005 cars in pure stock. They told me it made for a uneven playing field! I don't under stand that at all. But thats ok Dan you have my full support.I am considering get the camaro back out to play with. Will see after my back finish healing. Tony K. |

Jury is never out on this issue. Have to advocate a lot more with IHRA. Cannot do it alone. What year is your Camaro? Have a new Budd Rowe 350/255 that can easily convert to Pure Stock. Been sitting in storage for 10 years. Dan |
Re: Pure Stock Challenge - IHRA
Dan,
My camaro is a 1997 current combo is 3800 v6 5 speed man. Legal for H&I pure stock the way it sits. Last time out car ran deep in 13 sec. zone.Car be sitting in the corner under a cover for a few year now but starts and runs. Will need to go over everything and freashen up. Or comdo#2 lt1 with 4l60e i think it will fall in around a B or C pure stocker. Will keep you informed on what combo i will run.It will be a little bit yet as i had reconstruced surgery on my lower back but am making great progress. Tony K. |

It is milder than what is in it now but a good improvement. Had the cam designed so I could drive the car to the races. Dan |
Re: Pure Stock Challenge - IHRA
Bet you don't have to pay it out. How many pure stockers race?
Let's be real |

I hope we do.. and OFTEN !! Why are you so angry and jealous? Costs only a small fee to become a Contingency Sponsor. We made the offer to IHRA and they liked the idea. Doing what I can to help the IHRA Brand. Mike Dunn and IHRA Team need all the support they can get. Hope the Crate Motor, FWD and other Stocker crowd finds an advocate to do the same thing. Stop being so grumpy! This is all about having fun ! Feel free to come on board !! If we meet I will be happy to buy you a Guinness (only the best)! Dan the Pure Stock Community Organizer :D |
Re: Pure Stock Challenge - IHRA
Thats Great Dan. Congrats. Where do we Pick up the Decals For the Races? Will Ihra Have them ? Thanks For Everything You do For Us Pure Stockers!

Already paid for and program starts after WPB meet in Louisiana. I will post when I get them and get everyone's address and mail out as many as possible. Will send IHRA a large batch to distribute at the races. Getting a good bit of new interest. Anyone can post them on their car. The contingency money is just for Pure Stockers. Considering starting a Contingency Program for setting a National Record! See if we can get some heat and bragging rights going there! What do you think? D |

REAL CLASS CARS? Was that suppose to hurt my FEELINGS? LOL !! Jim you do not define that. The Rule defines what Stock is! There are Stockers in GT, Truck, EFI, FWD, Crate Motor, Pure Stockers and regular Stock. Go tell them they are not REAL STOCKERS ! BTW you know you wrote a run on sentence that does not make any sense. D |

Re: Pure Stock Challenge - IHRA
Thanks for the added support Dan!
You're always going to have that one negative Nancy. I would think everyone would be on board with anything that helps the sport. |

Thank you Ken D |

Re: Pure Stock Challenge - IHRA
Ken the web master has created our own Pure Stock Forum !
Will be posting more stuff there too. d |
Re: Pure Stock Challenge - IHRA
Nice going Dan! I have raced stock and super stock on and off since the early 1980s, that being said I think IHRA pure stock is a great idea! and truly the best (and probably the only) way a young guy could get into class racing! Keep up the good work Dan!

My 1st Class car was a Pure Stocker that I made run the index for under $ 4,000. I wasn't exactly young at the time (51) but it was fun taking a stock car and build it to fit the class rules and run the index. It's too bad IHRA does not have more races in the mid-west and the western part of the States. I truly believe there would be more Pure Stockers built if they did. |

I agree. In the 70's, when NHRA had Pure Stock, I wanted nothing to do with it. Today, if there were more IHRA tracks within a reasonable distance, I would build one in a heartbeat. |
Re: Pure Stock Challenge - IHRA
I also agree ihra pure stock is a great start for just getting in the game or ona budget. I also think ihra should open up pure stock to late model cars!!! There is alot of them out there and they do want a place to race competitively with rules on mods that they can do them selfs and learn and have fun. Hey Alan maybe ihra would get tracks closer to both you and me nothing close in jersey ether. Well just some thoughts i would share.

Seems they rely on NHRA for the Specs. Yet we did the due diligence to get your Mustang certified. Also need the community to help push this.. I will bring this up with Jon O'Neal when I meet them. 2005 as the limit ... at least increase it one or two years at a time. Dan |
Re: Pure Stock Challenge - IHRA
Dan,
Just so everyone knows i did send Mike Dunn a E-Mail on what happen with the mustang and how much work me and you along with others to get ihra and Mike Baker to approve it for pure stock only to have it taken away a few months later by a year limit witch imo should be current and back. Hacksaw as far as driving your car to the track and racing, whats wrong with that ! Open you eyes my friend this is how it all started. Even Big Daddy use to drive his superstock car to the track when he started racing. Dan if there is anything else i can do let me know. Tony K. |
