SBC Stocker Ignition Wire Routing

I am replacing the ignition wires on my SBC Stocker.
The cam has the #4 & #7 cylinders swapped.
I was told to keep the #2 & #4 wires as far apart as possible and not cross them.

What are others doing for routing their ignitions wires.
It was suggested that I lay the #2 wire on top of the intake and run the 4, 6 & 8 wires along the other side of the valve cover.

As this is going to be my only second season with this car, it is obvious that I have a lot to learn.

It will be interesting to see what others say on the matter, but I say that today's plug wires are so effectively insulated against arc-over and heat damage that the long-standing rule about never letting wires lay on each other is out of date. If you look at a number of Stockers and particularly, Super Stockers with front-drive distributors, you'll see lots of wires touching each other. OK boys, bring it!

I was of a similar opinion and was quite surprised when I was told this.
That is why I figured I would post the question here, as this is a very knowledgeable group on this site.

Especially if you add the sleeves over the wires. That is an extra layer of insulation for heat and arc over. Your wires will last a long time with the sleeve on them. I used the Moroso sleeve on my wires

Mike. Do you mean the sleeve at the plug end, so the headers don't touch the wires?

My SBF headers set my plug wire ends on fire so I put braided "fire proof" sleeves over them. About 10 inches long. I think that's what is being mentioned as sleeves.

Yes. my wires are sleeved from the distributor to the plug they have heat shrink tube to seal the distributor and plug boot to the sleeve. Moroso also has shrink tube numbers to label the wires to make it easier to identify them.

From Moroso Tech Support:

"With today's newer wire construction methods, this is not as much of an issue. Especially when using our “sleeved” wire sets, either in Ultra 40 or Blue Max, there is more than sufficient insulation to prevent such arcing issues from occurring."
