OK Gary now lets comapre apples to apples. First bear in mind this is not the 60's or 70's. Those same kids attend a PINKS event to see drag racing for the first time. They are walking through the staging lanes and come across a couple of 96 camaro's sitting side by side. One of those cars is owned by Dan Fletcher and the other by Billy Bob from down the street. They look at Dan's car and see a very well kept Stock looking Camaro. They tell Dan how much they like his car and ask what does it cost to build something like this. Dan replies " about 60K to be competitive and a lot of hard work". They look over at Billy Bob and see his Camaro is also a very nice stock looking car. They ask Billy Bob "Wow did you spend that much too?" Billy Bob laughs and says "Hell no. You don't need all that crap they have. Just get you a bottle of nitrous and hang on. I built this thing for 7K and can out run that 60K car any day of the week." So what do you honestly think those kids who now want to race are going to do? Lets be real. To bring more interest into class racing requires you to run the class properly. If you don't you are simply at a glorified run what you brung race where nobody cares about what Class your car runs in or how Class racing is done.
