I know, they really should have. They spent some money instead and brokered a deal for the cars running with an LT1 to use a new front fascia clip that they gave away, I was the last to get one, hence, my stand that there's no performance to be gained with the later model nose, it actually hurts MPH !!!! The body is the same and some small interior pieces are different.
And, YES, I have seen a 98 with an LT1 in it !!!!

To all of the purists, get over it. It makes no difference. Once the LS1's hit the circuit you had more to cry about back then, yea, more than ten years ago !!!!!!!!!!!

Somewhat different scenario to what Alex had alluded to though, with the Shelby deal, no big cam etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. all being performance enhancers, same deal, get over it, there are way bigger fish to fry now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ????????????????????????????????????????

Hi Bernie,
A few questions. How many LT-1 Firebirds came off the assembly line?Did NHRA get and accept a letter from Pontiac, ala Carroll Shelby, about an LT-1 Firebird?
My point about running a business was how much more are they going to let slide and what's the breaking point before enough racers tell them to go ***** in their hat and just park their cars?
What's your take on this Mr Dgal?
BTW that should be wringer, not ringer.:>):>)
