I figure here was a car guy just like us-only he had a pocket full of money to spend. Maybe he had a $200k cd sitting in the bank at .75% interest. Or his stock broker called him with (another) hot stock tip and he said screw it, I'm going to buy a car i can go to the garage and look at, drive or keep it for a couple years and resell it and make money. (Unless he buys a Ray Allen car). No sense in letting someone else have fun with that money.
If I had his money, I'd do the same thing.
The part that I don't like is that I would like to find a 63-67 Corvette that I want to restore myself. BJ has drove the prices so high that I cant find a reasonable priced project car.
By the time I pay top dollar for a car and restore it, the cost will be prohibitive. I won't buy a finished car. Not my style.

My best bud that I race with and attend Yankee games with has a '66 or '67 Corvette convertible. 427/435. I put an engine together for him for it. Call it period correct with date codes very close to original I believe it was an orginal 427/435 but the engine was gone. He removed the body a year or two ago and spiffed up the frame and suspension. He rarely drives it........It's like a savings account to him I think.
I also have a buddy with a nearly totally orginal and correct '70 Boss 429 Mustang. I don't think it has seen the light of day in 20+ years. It was once appraised at something like $50K but that was a long time ago......He syas it's his retirement..........
