What I can't figure out with all the Novas running stock. All the small block combos for a 70 model are NHRA factored LESS than the oem rating but my 73/74 is hammered to like 100hp over oem rating. I know there are way more 255/350 running than my combo. Heck I have the only 74 running Stock?

That's because the OEM's changed how they rated horsepower starting around '73-'74 to what was termed S.A.E. ratings. The later engines were rated with full exhaust systems, A/C compressor, PS pump, etc. The early engines weren't 'full dressed' for their ratings. Insurance companies and emissions had a lot to do with the decreased ratings, too. -Al
