Don't forget Super Street contested at Orlando with at least 41. That's good enough for 5th place. It all looks normal to me. Stock and Super Comp are always the two biggest classes in Div 4... Super Stock and Super Gas always have about the same number of cars also. Are you talking about how the higher cost(speed) classes are dwindling?

You're right, Hagen, about Super Street. I forgot about them because that's the only class not running for a national championship this year.

I just thought it was worth mentioning that Stock had the most entries because at the end of last year there were more in SC (1165) than in Stock (1098).

I thought that my mention of Pomona & Orlando implied that I was referring to NHRA only, but I guess that I failed to make that apparent . You've obviously decided to included IHRA drivers in your total.

ps. 'Play statsman'? I wouldn't call scrolling to the bottom of a page at the NHRA site and reading a number that.

Anywho, since we're talking stats, here's an excerpt from my work-in-progress analysis of 1300+ NHRA Professional drivers, for the amusement of all:

NHRA Pro Stock Truck 'bottom 20'

I'd be curious to know the cost difference of building/campaigning a 175 mph S/C dragster vs. a 195 mph Top Dragster. If I'm silly enough to do either, I'd sure want to be in quicker/faster car.

Guess my point is that if you're going to race S/C and knowing it's not cheap, how come there aren't more racers spending the extra dough to race T/D?

Heck, you turn the stop off that's on many S/C cars and most can probably qualify for T/D.

Having raced in super class, my guess is that some people just like the index style more. Most were bracket racers looking for something a little different in the first place. Another point, you are correct that alot of the super comp guys could qualify but they like running in super comp as the higher mph car so they stay.
