Brian Seaburg towed from like Washington Oregon somewhere ... is the third fastest 302 combo was spanked handily (as was I) by the #1 qualifier who went and amazing -167 under in a brand new car and HE got sent to the barn ... who has that happen to them. Last year I believe was the first year the time honored tradition of tearing down #1 was bypassed but shaw's car had set the record just before... anyway welcome to the new and improved or say enhanced Indy Brian !

3 or 4 years ago I lost in class at Indy and was presented at the scales with the "you've been invited to a party". I asked why when I lost class and was the slowest in my class why me. I was told its predetermined before any runs are made down the track who gets chosen.

Brian lives in Belfair, Wa. and towed about 2300 miles, but I doubt he is the maddest guy at Indy. He is probably frustrated that his car didn't perform better. He was, probably, one of the first to congratulate Mike and BJ for their win. Brian has raced them before when they had the Maverick.
Like Bob said, it is a random pick for the barn.

I think everyone on this site knows that setting a record before Indy and going through a cursory tear down does not entitle a racer to a pass at Indy. There is absolutely no proof that the car is as it was when it was torn down for the record. In fact there is no proof that the car has the same motor in it. I set a record before a national event one year and then Bruce invited me to the barn at that national. I told him about setting the record thinking that might save 5 hours in tear down. He said congratulations, I'll see you in the tear down area. So skipping tear down because of setting a record is gibberish.

I guess folks can say that but maybe it was his lucky day to miss tear down. Another myth is the random selection process. Bruce made it clear that they target racers from time to time.

In a world of stackers and toterhomes, Brian towed from Washington State to Brainard and then on to Indy in a Ford pickup with a camper. His Comet following along on an open trailer. Hopefully Mr. Thompson was along to help with the teardown.
Brian is one of the nicest guys in drag racing and I hope he can make the call for Stock Elim.

Are they doing bottom ends or just top ends?
If it's only top ends, it should be no problem for most cars to make 1st round... Engine out of the car that might be another story... I always looked at being torn down as a plus, because passing tear down shut up a lot of people.. Just sayin, Bob PS: I was also admonished about bold posting being yelling. So for the future I will only use bold when I want to yell.
