I think everyone on this site knows that setting a record before Indy and going through a cursory tear down does not entitle a racer to a pass at Indy. There is absolutely no proof that the car is as it was when it was torn down for the record. In fact there is no proof that the car has the same motor in it. I set a record before a national event one year and then Bruce invited me to the barn at that national. I told him about setting the record thinking that might save 5 hours in tear down. He said congratulations, I'll see you in the tear down area. So skipping tear down because of setting a record is gibberish.

It worked for the A/SA winner.

I guess folks can say that but maybe it was his lucky day to miss tear down. Another myth is the random selection process. Bruce made it clear that they target racers from time to time.

In a world of stackers and toterhomes, Brian towed from Washington State to Brainard and then on to Indy in a Ford pickup with a camper. His Comet following along on an open trailer. Hopefully Mr. Thompson was along to help with the teardown.

Brian is one of the nicest guys in drag racing and I hope he can make the call for Stock Elim.

Are they doing bottom ends or just top ends?

If it's only top ends, it should be no problem for most cars to make 1st round...

Engine out of the car that might be another story...

I always looked at being torn down as a plus, because passing tear down shut up a lot of people..

Just sayin,
Bob

PS:
I was also admonished about bold posting being yelling.
So for the future I will only use bold when I want to yell.

Maddest guy in Indy, after the first round, 64 of them, after that the next 32, then 16 and so on. When it comes down to it tomorrow there will be one happy person and 127 not so happy. Gotta love this sport, it is so brutal.

I think I had the same engine that I set the record with. I'm pretty sure that it was after Indy that we put Parson's 327 in it.
