Default Why Does Al Cordas COPO Run B/SA instead of FS Class

Why does Al Cordas COPO run B/SA instead of an FS class? Is MR. Cordas engine combo or year of COPO make a difference?
Thank you for the information in advance.

I don't think it's officially considered a COPO. Maybe has something to do with it?

I believe Al Corda's Camaro is an "SS" with the 365 HP engine with a lb/hp rating of 9.10, hence the B/SA factoring. When the Camaro's first came out they had a "little bit heavy" shipping weight, but it was "fixed" and this is a very competitive combination, at least with Mr. Corda at the wheel! .

That is correct, it's an actual Camaro with a vin number that could be purchased off the car lot as is Marion Stephenson's. They are not COPO's.

I think its the same engine as a 14 COPO 376 only better specs and lower hp than the 14 COPO. All that seems fair?

Al being Al, my guess is that he will being in Earlville this weekend. Big return on small investment if he wins, and no teardown.

About as fair as some of the Non-Drag Pack Challengers.
Welcome to the 21st Century version of Stock Eliminator!

Cool Re: Why Does Al Cordas COPO Run B/SA instead of FS Class

Factory Built Drag Pak's, Copo's, and Cobra Jet's can be converted to run traditional stock eliminator classes, (not the FS classes), provided there's an approved showroom engine combo for the year that they represent. This means the Drag Pak, Copo, or Cobra Jet, must have the correct sheet metal for the year they're claiming. It's been this way for several years! And no they don't have vin numbers. As Billy said, welcome to the new stock eliminator. You'll see more and more of these factory race cars in classes AA through V stock as more and more showroom engine combos are approved. Still waiting to see the first EcoBoost Cobra Jet !!

I has told by tech that factory stock drag pak's couldn't race has a traditional because the front suspension and steering is not the same production car.

Drag Pak's have production Challenger front suspension and the only difference in the steering is the manual rack instead of power. They will have to run the production hood and lights to match the year claimed.
