Default first year s/c

ok,this is gonna be my first year running s/c..my current set up runs 8.70@150...now would it be more consistant to go on the stop early or farther down track? i know it wont be on the stop vary long,so i am trying to decide wether to go on the stop early, and shift after comes back on,or let it launch full bore, and go on the stop after the shift...lookin forward to runnin with you guys this year..thanks brian

For years I help my dad with his 9.6 Camaro in 9.90. We tried everything. What worked the best for us was an electric base stop. We turned the timer on at .1 and run it out to wherever we need it to run 9.90 (or 9.86 ). We set the rpm on the stop around 800 under the convertor stahl and let it gradually rise. Worked pretty good for us!! We also tried shifting right before the stop went off and didn't see much difference. For us, using the stop down track added to many weather related variables, mostly headwind.

being that clost ot running 8.90 I would try adding some wieght and run it out. I would be afraid to put it on a stop trying to scrub a tenth or two.

Take all that "STOP" junk and throw it in the garbage. Buy or build a Stock, Super Stock or Comp machine. Fans and most racers "HATE" stop cars. It's ruining dragracing.

Thumbs up Re: first year s/c

I think Ruth and Homer ROCK! Also I am not sure what fans the stock and SS guys think are watching them? The stands seem just as empty to me. I still say, move the grand stands to the finish line, you know where the race is. Then will see which class is boring and which ones a nail bitter. Or better yet I want a head count of all the guys in s or ss that have ever ran a .90 car. There is a real driver Dan Fletcher, he seem not to proud to drive a .90 car. But hey, this is just my 2 cents.
