bump steer kits, legal or not

I've heard that bump steer kits are not legal in stock, but I continually see pictures of cars with them. Anyone have a definitive answer?

I inquired about this ..........D1 tech told me absolutly no to heims and spacers in Stock, Yes in SS. ......When I called FJ Smith to order one of his F body kits that uses a stock type tie rod end ,he told me there is a lot of confusion as to the legality of the heim and spacer kits, especially in D2................BTW , FJ's kit does the job ,still some bump, but within reason. ......Tom

Travis from Division 3 told us absolutely no in stock!

Yet, I see several late model "F" body GM stockers with them.

Outside of the confusion --division to division--wouldn't a bump steer kit be considered a safety item considering most of the cars wheelstand. Is it because it just another thing to check as far as quality of the heim joints ( as we all know there is good and there is just cheap ). Or is it something they picked so as keep the price of a stocker down and if thats the case they blew it with the camshafts. Me , myself, when it comes to steering, i want the best and I believe the other drivers would feel the same way.

Or some people should avoid driving race cars that have rules which they are not comfortable with!

Where exactly in the rule book does it state that they are a prohibited item? Have these tech guys pointed this out, or is it just their opinion?
