I have enclosed an email my dad recieved from a close friend about Bob Cahill. Bob was the head of the Chrysler Race Program from the beginning and was one the main guy. Everyone rolled up to him and he was one of the main reasons Chrysler dominated in the 60's and 70's. My dad worked close with him during this timeframe. Bob retired from Chrysler after 50 years working for them. NOW HE NEEDS OUR HELP.
Please read the email I have copied below. Dear Chrysler guys, Bob Cahill and his high school sweetheart decided last summer to be together more, so he moved to Little Rock to be near Molly. This fall he broke his right arm. Dec 3 he and Molly left for North Little Rock from Charlottesville. As they were nearing their destination, they were in a car accident~ 4th in line in a multi car pile up. Front end of car gone and $5,000 damage to his car. On Dec 7th ~ 43 boxes of his possessions arrived at the Presbyterian Village where he is living. Somehow he fell over backwards and broke his left arm. so was put in the health care unit because he can no longer use his walker without arms as now both arms are broken. Anyway, Bob's really having a tough time right now. He's pretty discouraged. I think it would be wonderful if we could send him a bunch of get well cards. Can you help me by spreading the word to guys on your lists? Thanks. Bob Cahill 510 Brookside Dr #28 Little Rock, AR 72205 GUYS TRUST ME WHEN I SAY WITHOUT THIS GUY AND THE ENGINEERS HE HIRED BACK IN THE 50'S AND 60'S WE WOULDNT BE TALKING ABOUT THIS STUFF LIKE WE ARE TODAY. I NEVER MAKE POST LIKE THIS BUT FOR ONCE GO BUY A CARD AND PLEASE MAIL IT TO HIM. I'M SENDING MINE TODAY. Thanks, Herb McCandless Marie McCandless |

I hope half the people that read this send something, he will be grinning a long time and forget some of his problems for sure, it must be tough being an Icon with hardly a thing to do. Good idea Jr.

I spent an hour with this amazing fellow who treated me with the most hospitable attitude imaginable. At 94 years of age, he is sharp as a tack and his memory for Mopar memorabila is better than mine! I'm 72, and he's old enough to be my father.... Talking with him for an hour was a pure delight! He opened up a drawer in a bedisde table and hauled out an 8"-thick stack of "Get Well" cards that he'd received from people on this board, mainly, and seemed flattered beyond belief. He said, "This is the most impressive and pleasantly-surprising outpouring of affection and attention that I have EVER received, in my life." He was bowled over.... Thanks, guys, for all the cards! It made his day, no, week, for sure! If he'd ever been depresssed, he sure didn't show it!!! I showed him photos of my Vortech supercharged Valiant V-8, and my turbocharged slant 6 project and he didn't fall asleep, so that was flattering to me. LOL! He seemed most interested in the article I took him that I had written in Super Stock about Charlie Malyuke's 383/400 Hemi that ended up setting the Pro Stock MPH record in John Hagen's Plymouth Arrow. I left all that reading material with him to while away the hours until his arms are healed. How often do you get to meet a personal hero, an icon, and look them in the eye, and say, "Thanks?" I'm a lucky guy...
