Default V8 vega

First off this question don’t belong here but I’m sure one of you knows the answer. When I was a teenager I had a V8 Vega and it never made it to the track but where we raced I’m guessing and about 1200 feet it would flutter the windshield wipers then hold em off the windshield till you lifted. The speedo was way off from the Power train swap anyone else encounter this if so at what speed did that happen. One of those things ya spend the rest of your life wondering almost makes you want to build another one with correct speedo to see but I hated it unless the go pedal was nailed and then for a short time it was my favorite car ever. It was a 1972 stock hood car.

I’ve been looking for that answer for about 45 years. Back then when one of friends wanted to race I give them a ride out to the spot and say watch the wipers no one that went for a ride wanted to run it after that.

That brings back fond memories of my youth, I remember all the V8 Vegas in the staging lanes with their windshield wiper blades duct taped down.

my Dad had one of the first V8 Vegas around this area 1973...

with a 331 built out of out dated modified eliminator parts... before the stock 3.42 rear was replaced with pontiac/olds...
mid 3rd gear... wipers raised off windshield and then into fourth.... then they slowly swept all the way across to other side of windshield...
then when slowed down... they swept back across... floating off windshield and then back on the windshield...
not sure how many MPH it ran but mathematically..... potential to go way too fast in a vega..
It is a MIRACLE that I got to grow up with my Dad alive.. he still is and still has that Vega too....

Also the rear hatch would not close without slamming it. I also had constant front end alignment issues, The front end would spread apart because I had made the rad support removable. Had to add a extra brace.

These V8 Vegas were assembled by Div 1 champ, Joe DeLorenzo in New Haven for Bob Johnson.
They were brand new cars with a warrantee. The std. engine was the 1970 LT1, also new..
The Don Hardy kit was used in the assembly

Very fast little cars as you can imagine....

There's more on the 'net, I'm sure.
