This is th thread that contains much of the info about the auction I wrote about...Chuck Sharin enters the thread and gives his knowledge about the car, some good pics of him and the car and his C/SM in the thread too. His screen name is 'CamaroRus'. Also there are links to Youtube that show the auction, with RJ on the stage and the whole thing. Also in the thread are links to the RS/Z-28 that caused some grief. Too bad the collector car market has devolved into forgeries, restamps, rebodies, and everything else.

The way to watch BJ is to record it and then fast forward through commercials. Thank God for DVR,

I know you Chevy and Ford guy's didn't notice but every time a Mopar came up on the block they would go to commercial......only a handful were seen especially during "Prime Time".
The reason: Ford and Chevy were sponsors for the auction......Mopar wasn't. JimR

I was at the auction the entire week. (Working, not buying) Yes cars went for insane money. Lots of cars auctioned for charity as well.
The bargains were in the early morning hours between 10am and about noon. Saw a great little 1963 Nova all original with about 31,000 miles sell for around 6K. Would have been fun for driving around if nothing else. Oh and the Bugatti Veryon that Jackson had to buy back after the Vegas bidding fiasco last fall? He drove it in each day and parked it in a corral by the staging lanes. It had BJ decals on the doors and windshield. Those are my random thoughts on the week in Scottsdale. -Karen |

I did the B-J last Thursday, the Bugatti was unbelievable. The Rolls Silver Cloud and Koenigsegg CCR at the Dupont Registry exhibit were amazing. Salesman at the DR told us that the black CCR there had been sold to a 70 year old guy who cooly wrote out a check for 1.2 Million on the spot and the funds were verified as "no problem". Okeedokee! Guess he doesn't have to worry about SS checks going dry in a few years.
Ford display was unbelievable, (hey Ford, how about some contingency $); almost makes me consider a Ford..BOSS 302 is really nice....but the topper? A restored Isetta going across the blocks at 42K! Yikes!

The highlight of my week was bumping into Jimmy Ayers (from Valvoline/NHRA midway) who was there working the Pit Pal booth. I had not seen him since he was so sick a while back. Embarassing that I had not been out to his shop to see him since he live a few miles from me here in GA.
