None of them are going to go far enough under.
The quickest runs ever have been in the 8.90 range, and now those same cars have to add 300 lbs. Chuck |

And, if anything, the runs could be slow enough to bring the average down where they won't get hurt at Year End AHFS. And, though not likely, make them show slow enough (on a 9.90 Index) to qualify for a reduction (wouldn't THAT be a joke?).
Plus, it's not a "real" class (FS/S) in NHRA. Much like when Division 1 had T/Stk and Jr/Stk (not real classes, so no automatic HP for a -1.50 run several years ago).

Most of the fast guys have been near max weight for some time. Adding a little more isn't going to kill them. It won't happen at Indy, but I know of one person that has run 8.89 at the Factory Showdown weight. No AHFS for this race within a race doesn't make sense to me. Aren't they going to race these cars in the same configuration in the eliminator?

I am not clear on a couple of things. Do they qualify off the 9.90 index for both the Showdown and Stock eliminations? I thought that qualifying for one was the same as qualifying for the other. Is the FSS completely separate from Stock, in qualifying terms I mean. Ron, I believe you know what you are talking about. If you can, please explain it for me so I have a clue. Steve |

Well it's clear as mud to me..................
All the "new" cars that want to will run the FSS class at the stated weight per engine size/induction type. .400 Pro-tree, 9.90 index, no AHFS in effect. After Class Eliminations are over, all of the FSS competitor's who make the 128 car cut, can qualify at the stated FSS weights, .500 Full tree, 9.90 index with the AHFS IN effect, against all the other vehicles entered/qualified, including the other "new" cars, in their respective class, who didn't run the FSS. Am I correct so far? Lew
