I'm converting my poly seats to Kirkey aluminum ones - the Pro Street version - and have a question on mounting the back brace that came with the kit. It's basically a formed sheet of T-6 aluminum that bolts to the back of the seat and lays over the cross bar with no included means of attaching the two. The easiest mount I can think of would be to drill through it and use a pair of exhaust clamps to bolt it to the cage cross bar. I also have a spare weight box clamp that is drilled for a 1/2 inch bolt. I could order another and use the two of them to secure it to the brace.
Are clamps legal as a means of attachment to the cross bar or is welding required. I can't find it specified in the 2016 book. Just "securely attached" This kind of clamp: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/pte-h7173/overview/ Thanks in advance. Dale

I don't have Kirkey seats but my seat is bolted through the back of the seat directly through the crossbar with a 1/2 inch G 8 bolt. I just drilled a hole through the roll bar tubing. I also use this as the mounting point for the shoulder harness

FireSale: There are neat looking clamps from Allstar Performance that attach direct to the roll bar that come tapped with 1/4" threads. I attached two clamps to the cross bar and then used 1/4" bolts from the Kirkey upper mount to each clamp. Allstar part no. 10459 attaches directly to 1-3/4" tubing. There are other sizes available as well. Works and looks great.

Jim: Order confirmation received at 12:22 today from Jegs. The ballast brackets were cheaper but these have a lower profile.
Thanks for the help. They were right in the car holding my electrical panel, but I never thought of them. Dale
